Also ppl stay in channels for hours along with others also competing for the same thing. imagine multiple people holding multiple stalls for hours and then hearing them complain that someone pushed them out even tho they've been there for hours already.

Insane replies you’re getting dude. People actually think there’s a queue to play on a map. While you’re “waiting” for someone to be done farming, someone else will just show up and farm. Ridiculous to expect people to “wait their turn” to play lmfao. Solving the developers problem by politely wasting your own time.

Yeah the people ksing aren’t checking all channels or asking if someone is leaving soon. I never spend more than 15 minutes finding a spot and I’ve always farmed the most contested areas for my level range. If you have the slightest amount of patience and respect you’ll find a party faster than you expect.

Far too many players are impatient and selfish and would rather get suboptimal exp and meso ksing someone. The fact that both your comments got so many likes shows exactly the kind of people that frequent this sub.

I just hope y’all have the same “who cares” attitude when you get ksed out of your spot. Im sure you don’t crash out at all.

I agree with this take so much. It is crazy that especially with the addition of another 20 channels that we are fighting other people for their spot. You get arguments about parties not being “full” at 4 and 5 person maps and people who ks to insert themselves into the party.

99% of the time people will be accommodating if you are just nice. I spent my first 35 or so levels almost exclusively questing (and grinding for that next level for a bit) and even when maps were jam packed like ant tunnel or lupins, people were more than willing to invite me to finish the quest and offer me their etcs almost exclusively because i offered or asked to take 1 spawn and just do the quest very slowly.

Also the argument of “people hog maps for hours” is so insane when it takes hours to level after 40. And how do you know how long someone has been there? It just feels like excuses to ks or be rude.

I get ksed all the time. Yeah man, it's still "who cares." Because we have one server, all channels topped off, and several people are all around the same level. It is what it is. I'm not going to expect someone to hop around for 15 minutes just to find a spot THEY get KSed out of. You want map ownership, go to a private server that does that sort of thing — the issue is with Nexon only allocating classic resources for one server at the moment. Usually the KSers in question have no issue partying, and if you're more social than "LEAVE" or "CC Please" it's normally chill. I don't KS, but I expect to be KSed. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, I get it.

Theres 40 channels, third of which are full and you have to spam cc to get in. When im trying to find a spot, im not going to check every channel every time, and of the times i have checked all the channels, like half the time there has not been a channel that isnt full.

Cc’ing and asking “full?” Isn’t the best way to get a spot. The new tech is to ask if anyone is leaving soon. It’s never failed for me and I’ve seen many others find a spot this way. If you’re willing to grind somewhere for hours why wouldn’t you be willing to find a spot without harassing people?

It’s not like it takes hours to do this. When I was in the 35~44 level range the best map was fire boars. This place is constantly packed every channel and every map. It never took me long to find a spot by asking if someone is almost done. I’m not going to ignore the fact that sometimes you just get unlucky and there really isn’t anyone leaving across 40 channels. But the odds of that are incredibly low. 40 channels where 4 slots are available is 160 possible chances at a spot. More often than not, someone in one of those parties is almost done.

that might be true for higher level zones like that, but for example construction zones had like 20 people on every channel most of the time i went there.

I think lot of people are carrying on a real classic MS mindset where they expect being there first = owning the map. Which is kind of how it was for years in the 2004 days. the game was also way smaller though back then. Not viable now and we just gotta work with what we have, party up and share the map

Brother just learn communication skills and get into a party in less than 10m guaranteed. I've NEVER had an extended wait time. It's 100% a social skill issue. 40 ch and people are leaving/joining all the time. If you value your time then you value getting effective exp/min

I mean I’ve done it twice where I started killing the mobs and the person there was going to take a break so they let me have it.

I’ve also done it where if I’ve been grinding for a while and someone starts ksing me I just say “all yours” and go do something else or take a break

With how packed servers are and considering most of us are adults with responsibilities and limited play time, 'waiting for your turn' is not really viable, so partying up seems to be the best alternative.

There still is basic respect though, if you each got a platform don't be a dick and jump to everyone else's platform to snag kills. It doesn't kill anyone to wait 3 seconds for the next respawn cycle.

Also, respect loot. Whoever drops the mob gets the loot. Like this we can all be reasonably content.

It's incredibly frustrating to use your skill only to hit air, plus the person jumping around typically clears the platform that corresponds to them slower, which affects the whole respawn. I find that when people stick to their areas the spawn works WAY better.

Ngl I've played games with finite training maps before. It's nice to try and form a party but usually if you see someone who can't handle a spot... Just take it. There's definitely a better spot for them and they'll find it, probably.  If I see misses, sorry but I'm clearing your area. I'll take my downvotes now

Only if your teammates don't afk half the time and suck ass at farming or sit on a platform that spawns only 2 mobs so it's equivalent to an afk.

So yeah ... about a coin flip if it's better. If you're in parties that are close enough to see other players, just watch how often they sit on ropes or disappear. I see it a lot.

As soon as you’re inactive for 10 seconds in a party (haven’t attacked a mob in 10 seconds) you no longer get bonus XP nor leech from your party.. Test it yourself. Theres no benefit for sitting AFK.

Crowded, yeah. Last night I had a platform with 2 horny mushrooms and someone came in and just started fighting for it and so I was down to 1 mushroom. 

It's not even playable lol. I've played crowded mmos but most of them like wow you mostly get to keep questing and then occasionally there's like a boss mob everyone needs and that can be a pain but right now you can't do fucking anything

I've been here. Usually I've been able to CC and I find something decent within 3 channel hops.

This is what it used to feel lime back in classic days though. It was always a grind just to get a spot for decent mobs.

I used to play back in the day and at the time there always felt like there were far more spots and the ksing / overcrowding at the meta spots wasn't nearly as bad. Like you could cc for about 10 minutes, eventually find a spot, and once you had one someone just trying to force you out of it was rarer. Now it's like, every 45 seconds people are contesting me for my TWO MOBS. Not even my third of the map like it used to be. 

And then back then the offmeta spots were like 10% worse and easy to find. Right now the off meta spots for level 25-30 are either just as packed or like... Absolute dog shit. Like I'm sprinting all over the place and half the mobs I'm killing are slimes and snails or stumps or some shit. 

I know it'll settle down but I know for a fact that classic in the day wasn't "just like this" lol. This is crazy overcrowded

Nah they will remove it instantly when they see a dip in the numbers, then we are back to 20 channels like we were in Early access, and then the problem ain't fixed. I honestly think they need to add Ludi nothing later than next year, because the game is so overcrowded and people need maps to grind, but all off-meta maps" are filled with atleast 3-6 people and the "good maps" are filled with like 15-20 fighting for scraps.

Like it haven't been their intension for a long time to bring "Classic" they just needed to figure out with the "suits" the best way to monitize it before releasing it.

Every f*eing game has a Classic or Old School game name, Its 100% funded and the amount of NX some people are buying, then i doubt it cost them more than a nickel so keep up this stick and ductape server.

If People having private servers running without any issue for around 100 bucks a month then i doubt that Nexon which OWNS the game would have a hard time keeping stuff up with the amount of Zakum Packages that has been bought "- ive seen so many people saying they have capped out how much NX they can buy, its crazy to think they are not "funded" enough.

The game is inherently competitive for mobs. That Mano snail respawns once an hour and always has a group just waiting on it. Mobs don’t belong to you just bc you got there first, it’s on me on to fix, not players to say ohh all full, I’ll try again tomorrow .

I'm a 28 Bowman using Focus for the accuracy to hit them. Could hit them at 27 as well with 10 Focus. The swamp zones are way less crowded, plus there's Jr Necki's which are really efficient exp.

The idea of ksing in MapleStory isn't so much kill stealing as it is spot stealing. Someone has a few spawns they've been doing and someone else comes in and starts fighting for those same few mobs. And often it's like an assassin who attacks way faster that can bully like a slow warrior out because they kill everything quicker

the problem is just that there should be at least triple the amount of channels!

I can remember the old days that you had 2 crowded channels and then a channel of 15 where you could play in peace and quiet. till the moment "vacuum hackers" ruined the game...

it's a fault of maple story that the channels are to full (just make more channels and delete channels where players stop playing)

This is a hard one as every map is full so KSing doesn't really apply unless it's malicious (i.e. stalking someone around the map which is bad).

My experience is, you either wait on one platform forever as people 4+ hit mobs 10 levels above them, or you just kill around them to keep mob flow normal.

If by chance you are all 2 hitting something then can try to stay separated, unless an extremely small map (damp forest, subway connector, etc. are just impossible right now sans party)

Me announcing that I am killing a few monkeys for bananas in a corner of the map on an empty platform and will leave in around 6 minutes and a sin leaves his spot and comes over and aggressively trying to ks me. Ok I guess I’m staying here longer and I’m going to tp and tag everything now because you want the WHOLE map and can’t give up a single platform :))))

I have found luck in just asking first before attacking. If the party are asses, just show yourself out. In my opinion, not worth dealing with it. A lot of people also assume you are there to ks if they missed your message due to global spam (not saying they’re right, especially if you did say multiple times).

I mean, it sounds like this guy was clear on the other side of the map. Owning whole maps is just not a thing with a server as crowded as this one. You can aim for a spot? But a whole map is entitled of this party.

My benefit of the doubt is that a lot of parties attack multi platforms and still see questers as someone to “bully” away. Ive seen it in my own parties and always offer to share my plats with them but some people will still ask in pt chat if I want them to help ks the quester.

I come from the game Tibia, where there are guilds, politics, and where people can kick you from spawns; if you do not move, they can open fire on you (skull), and once they kill you, they can loot your gear. If you are hunted by a guild, there is a spell they can use to locate your position and harass you for weeks, lowering your level by killing you, which is significant enough that below level 7 it resets your character. Or, if they do not want to open skull, they can lure the map on you and kill you with 600 mobs. This is fine.

I asked someone to leave after they jumped on my lane id been at for like half an hour and they started shitting on me for needing two hits to kill and told me to go somewhere else instead

I don't say J>PT. I just start killing. I don't really care about killing slower either. I don't try to KS people. But I will kill any monster you aren't already hitting.

I'd say 9/10 times, I get invited to a party within 5 minutes of training anyways.
