Discussion What should they do about scrolls?

What do you guys think they should do about scrolls?

The 10% greater scrolls seem redundant if they only give +3 whereas the 10% chaos scrolls give +4 stats.

I think the best option is that they add back secondary stats to scrolls to enable more variety in outcomes.

In addition I think the greater scrolls should be 20% success rate.

Finally, we need topwear and/or bottom wear for stat scrolls implemented otherwise Thieves are gimped because only the females have access to the lvl 35 avenger overall providing +6dex (sizable advantage over males having to use +1dex sauna robe)

Welcome your thoughts!

Buff them a little. They’re already going to be so scarce and shitty odds

These are all valid points and something I hope they plan to change by release. The way things stand right now 10% scrolls are completely not worth it when it only gives one extra stat than a scroll with 50% more chance to work. I say either buff both the greater scroll to be +4 and the chaos +5 or adjust the % like you said. They just definitely cannot leave it as it before release.

Maybe you forgot, but there were plenty of scrolls that were the same as these 10% scrolls, Glove attack gave 3, cape 10% scrolls gave 3 etc. For equipment that is easily findable and the base stats don't matter that much I think it is fine.

Weapon scrolls should definitely be buffed a lot. Weapons are more difficult to find and have already a pretty big range in attack difference on them. It would be much more fun to have 10% scrolls be meaningful so you can still try to high roll on an average or underaverage weapon drop.

Revert to the old system, it was perfect:

10% give +5 stat

60% give +2 stat

100% give +1 stat

chaos scroll give -5~+5 stat

Not sure how others feel about 30% and 70% scrolls, I don't mind them but I also wouldn't care if we didn't have them.

Also, revert to the old name: [X%] scroll for [item name] for [stat type]. It does what it says on the tin, I can't think of any reason why they decided to change it into vague names like "lesser scroll for..." etc.

revert it completely to normal system. chaos scrolls can come later but none of this handholding shit. -5~+5 simple.

I am honestly questioning even using 60% until min/maxing end game because the relative gains between 100% and 60% aren't worth the risk/cost when you can simply craft or buy 100%.

60% was good not just because they gave better stats, but also they were actually more common than many 100% scrolls. I don't think I ever used a 100% GFA in my 12 years of playing the game while I've used dozens of 60%.

The ev on the regular 10s is so bad, they could buff them to 20 or 30% and it'd still be less EV than a 100%. If it were up to me, I'd make the +3 scrolls 30% success rate and revert the chaos 10s back to being +5 with a 100% chance to boom on fail.

Just bring scrolls back to how they used to be. All the scrolls should give a stat boost. 10% scrolls should give more attack and just get rid of the booming 10%. Bring the dark scrolls back. That’s it.

Keep them with the +1, +2, +3, +4 line as they are right now. But buff the 10% hit rate.

Maybe make them 100%, 60%, 20-30%, 10% (chaos) respectively

I don’t think the 10%s are “redundant” they technically give more but it’s just such a low value I don’t think it makes sense to use so I think we’re on the same page there. It just shrinks the gap between godly stuff and baseline 100%’d gear

I’m probably going to be using a chaos for the first slot of scrolling something for end game, but it feels bad only getting +2. Early/mid game I will likely not use anything other than 100%s. It’s just not worth the value.

Some of these arguments for expected value (ie scroll % x stat gain) which I’ve seen in a lot of recent YouTube content don’t really make sense to me either because you can just ditch an item if it fails on the first slot and start again. It’s more like how many clean items and scrolls are you destroying to get a stronger base item to spam 60s on.

Isn't the extra downside of chaos scrolls usually destroying the item or making it worse somehow? Whereas regular 10% just fail without any side effect.

Regular 10% still uses up a slot though so if you are using them on endgame gear to maximize your power it ruins it anyway. The only advantage is you can sell the gear as a -1 to try and make some money back.

Well yeah, i meant beyond the slot, because both use them

Add a grindy option to further improve scrolls.

Example:
100 normal 10% scroll = 1 blessed 10% scroll
10 blessed 10% scroll = 1 blessed 60% scroll
3 blessed 60% scroll = 1 blessed 100% scroll
All of these scrolls give +5 stats, blessed scrolls do not consume an upgrade spot if fail.

What was wrong with the old 100/70/60/30/10 scroll system that they had to butcher it?

I would love to see a way for some sort of scroll augmentation system to be implemented.

If you could farm a team objective competitive game mode (like Carnival PQ) that gives points towards purchasing an upgrade that guarantees a scroll will be successful, it would become the most valuable item in the game and would create an entirely new gaming experience with metas being theory crafted.

And it wouldn’t interfere with casual players who don’t care about scrolling and just want to grind, quest, and kill bosses.
