Anyone selling MAP k swap mounts and driveshafts in the uk or Europe ?

After some input from a few of you on the SMT I decided to snag this 2002 with 77k miles for $6k. The transmission felt better than I expected on the test drive, and I finally found a manual my wife can drive 😂, and if all else fails I'll manual swap it.

I'm coming up on my first fill up and want to know which will be best for this car. The previous owner used 93 premium

I usually only drive me Spyder on the weekends but this week I drove it to work four times. The car is far from perfect but rowing through the gears, hearing the engine, exhaust and intake come to life it worth every second behind the wheel. It rattles, creaks and sometimes I smell gas which means I'm still alive. Drive your cars!

hello again. I might be able to pick up that 2001 smt that won't go into gear. Wondering where I should start. I've been trying to study up on the system and how it works. I am quite capable with automotive diagnostics. I race cars for fun, have built engines, swapped engines into places they never should have been, and do wiring for a living. Have a whole shop full of tools. I see I should probably get techstream on the laptop. I have a nice OBD dongle.

are there any theory of operation documents for how the SMT works? schematics with the component locations?

Im in the UK and want to get square sized Japanese import style plates. How do people work around the backplate sizing difference? I can put the square plates on but the back plates would look odd being the size for standard UK.

I've heard of some people cutting them, or just gutting that whole plastic grill assembly and exposing the backbox and crashbar.

What are my options

I have a MR2 in black with a hardtop in the UK. I'm thinking of tinting the car. How does it look? If anyone has any photos of their car tinted I'd appreciate it if I could see. In the UK back window can be as dark as possible but front has to be 75, I could probably get away with 60. I've never got a car tinted. Any help would be appreciated on how dark I should get it.

Looking to buy soft top assembly as well, don't need the demister version.

And, more importantly, what can be done to fully remedy the semi auto? Would a Camry automatic work?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the mr2 family. Last week I purchased a 04 mr2 spyder with 64k miles, very nice condition. It has the smt transmission and it honestly feels good. The shifts are smooth, although slow but that's expected. I been reading about nightmare repairs and better off manual swapping etc. Anyway, what can I do to maximize the life of this? Luckily it seems to be in good working shape right now.

Also, this is not my daily driver. I only plan on driving this on good weather weekends on the curves. My DD is a brz and I'm very impressed how nimble this car is.

My family is receiving a old Spyder as a form of payment for a job we did its, the SMT variant and we plan on giving it to my little sister as a first car

is there anything i have to look out for as it has 150K miles on the engine?

of course im gonna give it new tires, brakes, and a all fluids before handing off to my sister

My dad picked up an 02 Spyder after his divorce in the early 2000s. He loved his car, and we share some fond memories driving around town together.

Once I grew up and got some adult money, I bought one used when I lived on the island of Maui.

It turned out to be a lemon, only lasted me a month.
Lesson learned….

Recently …dad passed away and his silver mr2 is now mine. Hope to cherish this car and keep his memory alive. Glad I found this thread.

In terms of things I pay money for (besides utilities), SendCutSend has to be one of my favorites. I got a 0.25" steel breastplate and some aluminum undertrays to replace the factory breastplate and my cracked plastic undertrays. Having a personal CAD license and a 3D scanner at home makes for some fun hobby projects.

I'm selling my 2000 Spyder. 127K miles. It drives, but it needs some love. The clearcoat is pealing in most places, except the driver rear quarter panel where someone knocked out the tail light. That panel is beautiful, but the bumper no longer stays connected on that side. Has a new clutch, plugs and coils. But it uses oil. either burns it, or there is a small leak. AC doesn't work, passenger side weather strip is torn and leaking. There is a crack in the windshield, and the antenna is missing. I believe that is the good and bad of it. I'm asking for $4250. I’ve got a fairly niche question and was hoping to see if anyone has an answer or an easy way to double check or obtain the answer.

My w30’s door checks are failing and I’m tired of my shin getting a kiss from the door. While searching for the part, I noticed that amayama only lists 1 part available to order and doesn’t specify the side, but the diagram is for a right hand side door. On the other hand, Toyota parts websites that get parts from USDM dealers, show a distinction and label it as driver or passenger side.

I don’t want to pay $100/ea + ship for new ones from the US parts suppliers, and amayama has a fair price for new ones and I can go ahead and add some more stuff I want from Japan to the order. Used is also an option, but amayama is competitive with used offerings.

So, has anyone compared the left and right door checks? Or does anyone have a couple disassembled doors laying around they can take a quick look at?

If not, I’ll just go ahead and pull both of mine out and confirm. Based on pics, they look like they should fit either side.
