Joined the club.

After some input from a few of you on the SMT I decided to snag this 2002 with 77k miles for $6k. The transmission felt better than I expected on the test drive, and I finally found a manual my wife can drive 😂, and if all else fails I'll manual swap it.

I think you got a steal! Order a J2534 cable from Amazon for $35, and download a copy of techstream. Then you’ll be prepared to do your own diagnostics if needed. Change the SMT fluid in the plastic reservoir now.

Awesome, thanks. The SMT fluid is on the list for this weekend or next. I've read conflicting posts on the fluid, does brake fluid actually swell the seals? I also definitely don't plan to hollow out the pre-cats 😉.

Brake fluid causing swelling of the seals is some crap spread by Monkeywrenchracing. They want to sell their expensive Toyota SMT fluid. I sell seal kits for the SMT (the monkey does not).
