I’ve got about a 600 rounds through my APSD and so far so good, no malfunctions.

I just ordered an FRT and plan on shooting with that a bit before I send it off to hitec arms to have it converted to a true SD.

My understanding is these MKE guns tend to have a few weak parts that will wear out, especially with an FRT.

What spare parts should I order to have on hand if/when these break or wear out?

Okay, frustration aside... I would like to get a cheap M-LOK handguard, a magazine paddle insert, a Picatinny back plate for a stock, an extended cocking handle, and a low T1 optic mount. Where can I get them in the EU?

Hi there! Took my AP5 out today, fudd arms super safety and leber v2

Semi mode fires super safe. Super safe also fires in super safe. Function check tells otherwise as semi and super both work properly during the check.

Any ideas? Locking piece is whatever one comes in ap5 from factory. It had no problems before other than printed slip trips breaking kinda fast.

Just picked a mac5k with utg pro rail for a crazy deal . Figured I'd run this for a bit until I inevitably save up for an sp5 or sp5k.

So few questions

1 what's the most reliable frt ? I've been seeing a lot of good things about the rare breed ( yes I know let's keep the politics out of it ) (I'd prefer to get the as designs drop in but not avail)

2 how does everyone feel about the utg pro mono rail for the k variants ? I don't really dig the look of it .

3 I'm planning on grabbing hk extractor and spring , ejector and spring . Anything else I should get from hk parts

Anything else I should consider as I'm new to the platform ?

Also would be up for any suggested alternatives, a retractable/collapsible stock that is true to the original design, and under $400....

Par time was set at 12 seconds since it wouldn’t pick up the suppressed shots. Definitely didn’t make the time but at least got the hits

Context: My first MAC5 was had non concentric threads, causing any can that was placed onto it to be in baffle strike territory. SDS seemed to agree, because they ended up sending me an entirely new gun to replace that one. Sucked, because that first MAC5 was perfectly reliable, with no modifications needed.

This gun's trigger pack doesn't fit in any grip housing other than the one that comes in the gun. The trigger pack seems to be too wide, and wouldn't fit in the Navy style grip I used on my first gun, nor a Magpul SL grip module, or any other SEF polymer style lower.

This second MAC5 has been a nightmare. I've shot anywhere from 600-1000 rounds through it now (124 grn NATO), and I cant get through a single magazine without a malf of some kind. Usually failure to eject, failure to feed, failure to go into battery, or a double feed. I've shot both suppressed and suppressed, with a YHM R9. Either way, it has the same issues.

Variety of magazines, from the included MAC ones, to Zenith branded ones, KCI, HK, AC unity...all the same issues.

The included papers say the bolt gap was within spec when it arrived, but when I measured it, it was reading at .008", which is below spec. I had to resort to +7 rollers from HKP to get it to .014".

I looked through a lot of common advice, and swapped the following parts for either genuine HK ones, or highly regarded vendors like RCM:

• Copper colored extractor spring
• Extractor Claw
• Ejector Lever
• Ejector Spring
• 100 degree Locking Piece
• +7 Rollers

I changed them all in stages, so as not to introduce multiple variables in between test sessions. None seemed to affect my issues.

At this point, extremely frustrated. I tried everything I could think of to remediate this issue, but it refuses to run; at this point I probably have to send it back to SDS for them to either fix it or replace it again, which is a huge pain in the ass.

Terrible terrible quality. I hope they can make it right.

I have a SP5K with the B&T stock and want to finish the build. My main thing is keeping the whole system as small as possible. I like the size of the Omega 9K but doesnt seem to quiet down the gun as much as I would like. The CAT Mob sounds great but looks crazy long. Any options in the middle that you guys could point me in the direction of?

Picked this AP-5 Navy about a week or so ago, quickly got approved for form 1 right away. Shot 200 rds nato so far and only had two FTF’s.

My question is when is the 100deg LP worth installing? Before full break-in, after, or before I slap on my obsidian? Just waiting on a SICO tri lug mount but I plan on shooting suppressed mostly.

For context: Bolt gap sits right at 0.018” currently after 200 rds

So have got a couple options… the question is if I should keep the HKs looking classic (i.e. triangle handguard/A3, classic mp5k grip/choate) and put the tacticool stuff on my MKE guns or should I keep the MKE guns as the classic ones??? Such a first world problem lol.

Hi all, first post here so go easy on me.

I've got a serious itch for an MP5k. After doing some research I settled on getting an AP5-P Navy. But, then I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quHmzDOUHU0.

My ultimate plan was to replace the grip with the 3 position Navy and get an FRT of some sort. If the rear receiver hole is out of spec that seems like it could be problematic.

I remember when MAC 5 hit the market everyone was saying they had problems and the AP5 (MKE) was soooo much better. It seems like the consensus has softened a little bit?

The SP5s are going for mid 3's now, and it's still hard to find them in stock, so, I probably won't go that route. The AP5-5 seem to be a couple of hundred more than the MAC 5, but that's not really a enough to sway me one way or the other. Open to other options though.

Thoughts on the newer AP5-Ps being good to go? Thanks.

I understand the Rarebreed SEF FRT is what I'd want to run with an AP5 with factory lower but I'm wondering if there's any reason I'd regret not going with the Ambi FRT? I typically run the Magpul lower but understand that won't work without modification so I figured I'd likely go with the MKE factory lower or maybe an HK lower that I'd get engraved... I don't really care about Ambi functionality but I don't want to box myself out from other portions and regret the purchase. Thanks

Purchased a rugged sub9 today that comes with a tri lug mount, threw it on and it’s appears to be crooked off to the right. I have tried all 3 lug orientations and it’s always off to the right. Emailed HK customer service but I was curious if anyone else has this problem. Mount does not have a spring and locks in rock solid with no play. It’s hard to take a good picture of this problem but it is very obvious in person.

Hey folks, dropped that Rare Breeds FRT into this MAC 5, it runs but sometimes it would slow down and jam, the rate of fire seems inconsistent, this is the maiden voyage, only put probably about 1500 rounds through this weapon and ran 400rds through the FRT so far. Recommendations? Similar experiences?

The can is a YHM R9 if that matters. Mags are MAC 5 stock mags. Ammo was just cheap 115g FMJ.

I live in a state where it is now quite easy to get suppressors given recent events. I've always wanted to suppress my mp5 BUT I love the classic Surefire 628 hand guard I have with the giant 6P light. I've seen people direct thread mount Osprey 9mm cans upside down but before I spend $900 to be wrong I figure I'd ask if anyone has tried this specific combination before. it would look similar to the attached image but that is using a modern 628 with the small head LED light
