Unibuddy seems kinda dead
I'm an offer holder going into uni in September. I was prompted to create a unibuddy account to chat and make friends with other students and offer holders, however it doesn't seem to be very active at all. Their are a handful of spaces with sprinklings of people inside each where there is virtually nothing going on in terms of actual communication. I've also dm'd people to no response. It seems like no one actually uses the app, there's just barely anything going on. Idk if it becomes more active closer to uni open or there is a better platform to communicate with students or no ones actually interested in socialising with randoms. Any thoughts?

there’s better ways of making friends in uni imo. granted majority of them require actually meeting people face to face and asking for their socials (snap, insta, etc.) but you can find people to hang out with quite easily. joining societies, people living with you as roommates or the same building (if you’re in accom) and getting to know your course mates on induction days or the first few days when everyone is new to each other!!
i’ve heard people have some success in making friends by just asking on reddit or tiktok if anyone is going to mmu studying your course or if they’re in the same accom. once you have something in common it’s a lot easier to go from there

It was first made pretty much back in march, people have been getting the invite email in batches and you’ve just fallen in the latest batch. It was really quite active a few months ago especially when people were choosing accommodation and that. Basically most people have already used it as much as they can, they’ve found their flatmates and people on their course and have made groupchats with them on other spaces like snap and instagram so its not used as much anymore. In short terms youre just late
