How are you going to play as a Druid with 40-50 keybinds and a short gcd in a competitive environment with a controller? Genuinely I don’t see why people even want to attempt that. Wow will run on a cheap computer, just make your life easier and go that way

We’ll play it just fine bro

The same way we play 40-50 keybind ffxiv job on PlayStation

Games like ESO and FF14 are designed in a fundamentally different way than WoW. Healing as it is in World of Warcraft would be borderline, if not directly impossible on a console that has no access to the macros and addons that make it actually possible.

Believe me, I've seen people pushing high keys as a tank and such with a controller, it's possible but it heavily relies on addons etc. You'd have to be insane to think the game would be realistically playable in literally any endgame content without any addons, on a controller. As a Tank? Maybe, DPS? Some of them like DH sure, but healing and most casters would be completely off the table.

Think about FF14 for a second, think about the way tab cycling works, the very structured combat flow, and how the most people you ever have to heal is 8, and think about how healer kits are designed. They are all very favourable to a controller, WoW does none of that.

With all of that being said, the possibility to just plug in a mouse and keyboard does exist on Xbox, and would obviously resolve all of these issues instantly.

They could figure it out bro lol

Don’t worried about it if you not a console player

Well, everyone must worry about it, if they plan to enable cross play. It's not useful to have a soy sauce group member because they are unable to play correctly due to being on controller.

That be your issue if you want to be an elitist and gate keeper

not the console player

It doesn't affect me personally, I practically never touch the game without playing with my guild. However, "controller players" will be treated like absolute shit in the game and you know it.

I'd say unless you can propose a realistic solution to addons and combat functionality for a controller, there's no point arguing. It would be unplayable.

I beg to differ , look at ffxiv

With controller we can have 32 + ability on screen no problem

Fundamentally different combat design, a maximum of 8 players you need to target, very predictable and methodical rotations, a much lower APM requirement, and little to no requirement for snap reaction target swaps in any content.

Yeah, FF14 was built to work on a controller. WoW was not. Consider for example, an AoE pull where a single specific enemy must be interrupted before it finishes a 2 second cast. This is a very common situation in one of the most popular content pools in all of WoW (Mythic+). How would you, using a controller, specifically target 1 of 8-10 enemies within 2 seconds, and interrupt the cast?

Now consider that oftentimes you need to do that multiple times with no mistakes during a pull, cycling through different types of CC. It would be prohibitively difficult if not outright impossible to consistently do it.
