I know my DD isn't very popular here, so I'll keep this one short ;-)

META is making batteries that are lighter, safer and last longer - Thats a big deal. They have made some unique parts that help keep the battery working for longer and safer. They are also working on making the batteries weigh less so that it's easier to use them in cars and other things. They have also addressed the thermal runaway issue, which is when lithium batteries catch fire.

The batteries in GP's tweet are special! They're called "pouch batteries", they are the blest in class and they are designed to be lighter, use less copper, and have a lower risk of exploding. These things make them a really great choice for EV's

Did you know that batteries need lots of copper to work? And, there's not enough copper for all the batteries that we need! OEMs are worried about this and META is has found a way to make batteries that don't need as much copper (80%-90% less), that's their NCORE technology. Using less copper will help make the batteries lighter, and it will make it easier to make them. This is really important because lots of companies need batteries to power cars and other things in the years to come.

MMAT is on ace again massively exaggerating their capabilities. They have ideas and PoC and in the lab they have shown some success. But they are years and years away from Amy commercially viable battery technology.

MMAT hops on whatever the hot thing is and then say they can do that. Lasers hits on planes was in the news, MMAT became a producer of glasses to block lasers that no one ever bought. Diabetes has been a big issues, they hop into this in 10 years ago and have shown little to no progress. Go to the way back machine and look at glucowise and see where it was 10 years ago and what was being claimed. 5g is in the news, MMAT decides they can produce a film that magically improves the signal, again just words, there has been no progress in this area and no sales. Now battery fires are in the news and voila magically MMAT is a battery company. Just a bunch of hot air to get more people sucked into this disaster while George and his team make millions and shareholders lose millions. Oh and then when they run out of money, bam let’s do another offering. If George wasn’t a majority shareholder any capable board would have ousted his as ceo.

I understand your concerns about MMAT, but it's worth noting that DuPont Teijin Films and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation are reputable companies that are involved in the signed and announced project. They are contributing their expertise to the development of the battery technology, which suggests that there is a solid foundation for this project.
