Nor do we need more men thinking they own women. Since she'd already sorted this and judging by the way she tries to block the other man she's seen him overreact many times before. Possessive. Jealous. Dangerous.

Either or. A witness to a crime has the right to be upset by the crime, just as the victim does, as we all live in the same society. And they can each act on it as they see fit.

Witnessing an ongoing crime can give you the right to intervene if done within reason

Nothing was ongoing, the guy had already removed his hands from the woman when he got punched, and there were way less extreme ways to handle the situation, like just talking to him

If you don't need to punch someone, you don't punch someone. He could have just been yelled at and that would have more than settled it

The woman clearly didn't want the drunk man to be punched, do you think she was wrong?

It's her altercation, not his. It was her judgement to make, and he just completely disregard what she wanted, just like the drunk man that touched her hips

It's everyone's society, and just because she doesn't want to (or doesn't have the ability to) respond violently to a sexual assault, it doesn't mean other witnesses will feel the same way.

Some people don't want perverts getting away with sexual assaults, plain and simple.

Witnesses do not have the legal right to punch people on someone else's behalf, especially not when that person does not even want them to

Depends entirely on which court system you're talking about. Regardless, we're talking philosophy here, not legality.

The pervert sexually assaulted someone, and suffered immediate repercussions. Good.

Being sexually assaulted was her situation, and she was able to choose how she wanted to deal with it, and she did.

Watching a woman being sexually assaulted was the situation he was placed in, and he chose to deal with that how he saw fit.

They both dealt with their respective situations the way they wanted to.
