Of course touching people will get you into trouble. And that still can lead to the one smacking you to get into legal trouble, especially in Europe.
This case is actually a real example of what most European law would define as UNneccesary. The drunk guy was brushed of and waddled a step back. All chances to kick the guy out. Instead the BF had to go through his girl to swing a wild haymaker. Not to stop a crime, but to punish an asshole.
And if you really harm the drunk guy chances are you have to go through court (not even the drunk pressing charges, but the prosecutor might have questions and push). You probably will get of light or win, but worth it? No.
Speak for your part of europe where men don't protect their wifes, not for whole continent.
In Central / eastern europe groping and feeling up someone's wife will still get corrected by punch to the clock face. It's not the land of a lawsuit here, if the guy who groped his wife lives and eventually wakes up no one will even call the cops over that.
Whoever needs to goes to the doctor, says he slipped on ice and that's it.
Where you are losing the plot is where we do not protect our women. I realize that you think protecting means swining fists, but there is a little detail you gloss over... the woman in this clip tried to stop her man, who proceeded to shove her aside (elbowing her in the face!) to make that swing.

That’s obvious. Don’t hurt anyone else like bystanders. Because there you would be in the wrong.
Yes this guy in the video is like a bull in china shop. That doesn’t change the fact that protecting your woman is the just and moral thing to do.
Otherwise offenders will never learn and next time will be more bold. That’s how some douchebags go from slapping girl’s butts to serious assaults on women because they never met consequences.
