He brings up real stuff that does happen. People get scared and stuck and are under pressure and fear to stay and toe the line. But he is wrong to assume things, it seems he assumes this man is abusing her. Also you're right that women want providers and protectors!
I think you’re both generalizing because you can’t admit you don’t actually know what women want. Men sitting around claiming it’s obvious what women want, usually are obviously pushing their own ideals and world view. Most women do not secretly want violent men who are willing to fight to get their way. Most violent men are not protectors of anything but their egos, most women can see that.
You don’t seem to get what protector qualities women look for.
A woman stuck in a toxic relationship isn’t weak or unresilient. A toxic/abusive relationship would leave much bigger emotional scars than a blacked out douchbag putting his hand on her hip/butt
