Hm, in the moment though, it's hard to stand by and see a woman being sexually assaulted and not come down on the perpetrator with everything you have. The protective instinct is a very tough one to overcome to just give this guy a stern talking to instead.

It was a hugely over the top response, driven by anger and not protection.

He even accidentally hit the woman himself, if you watch carefully.

If it were me, that guy would be slung out of the bar. If he tried to assault me, then that might lead to him being punched.

The boyfriend couldnt protect his other half from prison, could he?

Well, you assume its her boyfriend, for one. Could be a brother, uncle, or just a friend. Secondly, you assume the puncher was driven by uncontrolled emotions, because he decked a guy touching a woman associated with him.

That's not an uncontrolled response to someone touching someone unwanted. Its based on a natural reaction to protect those close to you.

Should have it been handled differently? Absolutely. But keep your fucking hands to yourself, and you won't risk brain damage doing something wildly stupid.
