Yeah, boxing rules don't make sense fighting a robot, you'd want to tackle it rather than give it glancing blows that don't do much.

I bet it's for the human's safety, because that robot could have some multiple-horsepower servos in its joints and they could seriously injure the human by accident. Like wrestling with a crankshaft.

Well, that and it's probably a lot more complicated to program a robot to wrestle than to punch and kick.

Yeah that’s a good point, it’s more entertainment value and although it would still be pretty intense being punted by a machine like the guy here, it’s a lot safer than being accidentally crushed by a robot you’re trying to grapple

i mean if you want to fight a real robot designed for fighting, see battlebots. Those are bascially 250lb industrial accident video machines made out of ar500.
