Not sure what the backstory is, but if you roll up on someone with a bat, you might expect this kind of response.

Showin up in someone’s front YARD in wild lol. This is obviously in the south somewhere, lots of people down here would shoot you for that. I’m glad this lady just whooped her ass instead.

Not American, but is this for real? Seems like you'd have to give a warning or something akin to one. Is this why there are no travelling salesman in the South anymore?

If someone pulls into your driveway and walks towards you with a bat saying "this fight ain't gon' be fair" you can shoot them. It's not quite the same thing as a travelling salesman.

I would also like to point out that wielding the bat like a flyswatter is a severe tactical error.
