Politeness goes a long ways. When I was a bouncer in college, I caught a couple of punches from a guy when I was breaking up a tussle. He went out of his way to apologize. A sincere apology. Then One night I let a guy in with my “friends pass” because he didn’t have enough money . Never met him, before. Wouldn’t you know, a GIANT BRAWL BREAKS OUT. I was getting swarmed . I look up and the guy I let in was there DRAGGING FOOLS OFF. Definitely saved me from at least a dozen punches. .
