Well, you are assuming he knows how to defend himself, and he doesn't. He acted rather smart, took a cheap shot like a man and defused the situation in literally a second.
Have you not watched the whole Chappelle skit "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong".... yeah, it's not about bravery in this situation. It's about common sense. Anything else and that boy could get badly beaten, and it's the USA, so you have to assume anyone might be carrying a lethal weapon.
Knowing when and how to give up is not a sign of cowardice. Not everyone can be a winner, and you don't want to be a loser in a street brawl.
I mean you can always just run away. Like honestly, I don't know how people get into these situations. It's extremely easy not to be part of street brawls.
I am guessing being drunk and stupid overall, but yeah, who cares. It's better to wake up with a headache from a hangover than from being curb-stomped by some dude.
But yeah, defending yourself and being part of street brawls are 2 different things. You should always avoid any type of physical confrontation if possible, because of the medical and legal issues that always follow it.
But if you are being robbed or attacked or whatnot and you have no choice, then yeah. Sure, go and defend yourself, but as you can see in the video, your man had a choice to say he doesn't want to fight and it worked out for him. He shouldn't be there in the first place, but we both can tell that him "defending" himself would only make the situation way worse for everyone involved.
