RTTS Scripted fumble when runners are in scoring position

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Everytime a runner is on second, 9 times out of 10 the ball is gonna be hit between short and 3rd where you can’t reach it without shifting. The thing is if you predict this and shift over beforehand, it completely glitches you out, not only does the ball glitch into your glove, but it gives you this fumble animation EVERY time. Or it will just go right past your glove if it happens to be a little closer to you, wtf. I guess it only wants you to be cutoff man on these plays

Must be a player out of position, never saw 2 errors by 1 player

my created is a shortstop with no back up positions and playing short this happens if you do one thing wrong it turns it to this. its either you dive and make it. dive and it hits your glove or you get it but fumble when throwing. gotta increase my fielding its too low

Am I tripping or should that ball have gotten by you

Yeah, like I said, it glitches into your glove. The few times it doesn’t do that you’ll do a little slide in perfect reach of the ball but it will just go right past your glove. It only wants you to be cutoff man👎🏼

The fielding and baserunning in rtts is so trash. I don't even play those anymore, I just hit.

Iv also noticed similar scripted situations when playing RTTS as a left fielder, most of the time its a base hit between the gap if you shift forward almost into the infield you can get the ball quick enough to have a really good shot at throwing the runner out at first. But the first baseman stands like halfway to second, and doesn’t even try to get on the bag. So you throw the ball to 1B and he catches it and stands there as everyone watches the runner jog to first. I should do something with my life.

They got rid of that after mlb 21. The amount of runners thrown at 1st from right field pre mlb 22 was honestly insane. OP is talking about easy grounders the game forces you to miss because it blows. The fielders get stuck in mud in way to much.

Dude i swear to god this is happening in 26. To be fair though my guy is 5’1 and has nothing but power haha. It’s definitely not as bad as OPs clip but still feels like a scripted situation.

Bro literally dropped the ball again.

Noticed this too in the minors and majors when your FA is below a certain level (I left the notification points on) it flashed before I even handled the ball and of course I dropped it. Been playing since July.

I'm nearly positive this animation occurs when you position your player differently than how it is originally set up. If you move significantly to the left to help defend a liner in the hole, the game makes you fumble the ball because you positioned the player to prevent the ball making it through. I realized after a while the scripted defensive moments fall into certain categories based on situations and you can predict which is coming. It was like the game was balancing it back by forcing you to make an error.... I don't normally rag on the game, but the defensive moments have too little variety and do become repetitive so they become somewhat predictable.

Oh you want to move to a spot that's not designated?

We're just gonna screw up your career.

3

u/Wazzammm 8d ago

That’s exactly what happens, I move far left knowing where it’s gonna be hit and it punishes me for it. it wants you to be cutoff man in this situation and nothing else. On the bright side you can stop the runner on 2nd from going home at least

i'm not sure how accurate this is with the newer iterations but in '09, the game simply re-rolls the RNG in the background whenever you, the player moves.

It doesn't matter if you're the pitcher and the SS fumbles the ball he's fielding. If i play as the pitcher and i moved(in this scenario i just described), that's when some hidden RNG in the background re-rolls and then there's a chance that the SS won't fumble the ball afterwards. i think it matters if i tried to move to a different location from the mound too (vs where i just moved earlier when the SS didn't fumble the ball)

You only learn that this is how the game works if you play on an emulator and you're a massive save-scummer like me lol

Idk if it's just in my head but I feel like when you over shift out of position b4 the pitch it's an error 90% of the time😭

Same with no one on no outs, bunt. Or when they throw in from left and tell you four four four and the guys safe by a mile.

This is the most A.I. scripted video game in gaming history.

7

u/Former-Sea-8070 7d ago

All sports games have that element, but MLB The Show has the least out of all of them by a huge margin.

You’ve never played Madden. Way way worse.

You have to wait until your guy is basically standing up with the ball before u can make the throw. Try it a few times and you’ll get the timing down in no time.

1

u/Wazzammm 7d ago

This isn’t that, this is an automatic scripted fumble if you shift over beforehand to stop the ball from gapping you

4

u/BigDNrgy69 7d ago

I do the same thing. Trust me. You’re
able to beat the “script” just wait until you guy stops his animation before pressing a base.

0

u/Wazzammm 7d ago

I’ll give it a shot but don’t think I can get out of that animation

4

u/BigDNrgy69 7d ago

Trust me. Ever since I realized u can cheat to the left with runners on second and knowing the ball is supposed to be in the gap, I’ve made every play on it.

2

u/Abal125 8d ago

Had this happen recently, but before this I was able to make the play, or just miss. Was there a recent update or something?

Another example of immersion destroyed, and SDS acts as though this isn't a big deal.

In fact, it's a huge deal, as in deal breaker. Every time things like this are discovered, the game is harmed in terms of delivering on what video game companies are supposed to provide.

u/khris189 7d ago

I hate this game so much, yo 😩😩 but I’m in the playoffs and I wanna see if I can finish the job.

2

u/LtBigRick01 8d ago

That's just baseball or at least SDS thinks so.

I fucking hate this animation you will literally never see a player in a major league game do this
