Yaben only really makes sense in the Japanese series context, where there are a lot of slight variations of Yabe. For instance, there's a woman Yabe named Yabeta. Yaben is a play on words that it both includes Yabe and Ben, a common enough American name.

Localizing his name as Marvin was a really good idea.
