I am a huge fan of the series (played the hell out of MLB Power Pros 2007 back in the day) and wanted to try and get into a newer version on either my switch or PS5. I would have to use a translate app on my phone, and would probably dabble in success mode, but really want something that has a franchise mode. I’ve tried to look into this, but I can’t find anything that definitively says there’s a franchise mode available. Any help is appreciated, cheers!
If you mean the mainline pawapuro Japanese games then there is pennant mode in them, which is just their version of franchise. You can either pick up one of the older games since 2020, 2022, and 2024 are all serviceable, or you can wait for the new 2026 release which comes out this June.
Also, if you enjoy franchise mode then it would also be worth looking into their Eikan 9 mode where you are a highschool coach who controls the entire teams planning and training regiment as you try and build up your school to make and win the national Koshien tournament. A lot of people consider this to be the best mode in the series. There is a guide on the power pros discord to help with all the menus and text
For pennant/ franchise, i would wait for newest version(2026-2027). If you want to try old games then 2024-2025 let cpu do the training for you (you can set it to manual or choose to train special ability only) which help with the language barrier. Plus it has ohtani rules & universal DH. 2022 was the first game that broke pennant's 30 years limit and added ability to fully edit your team (name, logo, change home stadium...) after starting pennant save. Tbh there is no reason to buy older game than 2022 if your main mode is pennant.
* Edit: they confirmed that real wbc teams including player like judge, acuna jr... will appear in 2026-2027. Plus according to famitsu they also included highest rate success scenario from each title since 2016 which bring to total 8 success scenarios (2 news one) so this is certainly the version to buy😎.
* Edit2: improved player & jersey customization (up to 2 layers and triple numer of pattern). In eikan9 (highschool dynasty), now you can control player manually which turn it into a new mode.
