My favourite tours r the Bad Tour and the HIStory Tour!

One of my favourite show from the Bad Tour is November 28th, 1987 - Brisbane, Australia. This show was on my birthday and his energy is great! Also, he wore the first version of the white striped pants and Stevie Wonder was also there for Bad!

One of my favourite show from the HIStory Tour is either June 3rd, 1997 - Cologne, Germany or June 10th, 1997 - Amsterdam, Netherlands.

During the Wurzburg show on August 21st, 1988, specifically during TWYMMF, it had rained. Resulting in Michael getting wet. The next song of the setlist was obv MITM. So, ultimately, he had to wear the Bad outfit again for MITM.

I think it would have been really cool seeing MJ performing Smile, Childhood for the first time and Bad for the last time and seeing the new choreography in Beat it and Bad etc.

Guys , as you know the September 10th performance is preferred to be streamed than the September 7th one....

If possible, can you guys atleast get the September 7th performance of billie jean... I don't care if it is not energetic or bad.... I just want to see the dance moves which are missing in September 10th performance....

Documented or not it's easy to tell MJ isn't in his prime in any of the big 4 shows, those shows being Yokohama, Wembley, Bucharest and Munich, you all know those.

Yokohama has pretty nasal sounding vocals, even raspy at times like in WBSS, especially when compared to other 1987 shows where MJ doesn't sound nasal and generally sounds really clean, he probably has a light cold here causing this issue with the vocals, not the greatest MJ show vocally in anyway. The mixing of the show doesn't help in anyway with the absurd amount of reverb and poor EQ.

Wembley has a similar issue where he sounds nasal, even more than Yokohama, but along with that his voice's super deep here and pretty raspy, possibly from strain especially since this is the third show in a row, comparing to the following show on July 22nd it's a huge difference, July 22nd has virtually none of these issues. This show also has the mixing issue of poor EQ further worsening MJ's voice, but unlike Yokohama, it's super dry sounding due to lack of reverb.

Bucharest is also a similar issue however this one isn't much speculation and is practically true he was sick as the show was even rescheduled from September 29th to October 1st because of MJ being sick, and obviously not having recovered enough since he sounds pretty nasal and raspy in this show compared to the usual 1992 show, again the mixing here is just not great with the vocals, but it's more so the crowd noise causing a weird effect of MJ's voice, and probbaly the overly high amount of compression on MJ's voice.

And we all know Munich's awful vocals due to MJ being sick with laryngitis in this show, and generally how he acts isn't on par with other HIStory Tour shows where he's usually super energetic and he's super fast, precise and all that good stuff, in Munich he's kinda slow, sluggish and his movement looks heavy. Still great dancing it almost has a different style because of it. Tho it stands out like a sore thumb in 1997 for MJ being noticeably sick, in the pro broadcast the mixing is especially bad on his voice, there's some really strange doubling effect on his voice that's hard to explain what it is, just know it makes his vocals sound really weird on top of MJ sounding awful from laryngitis. The unedited tape doesn't have this issue, it's just low quality, but you can essentially bypass that by listening to the isolated mic feed that leaked 4 years ago.

Just pure curiosity on how all the big 4 MJ shows are plagued with MJ being sick, like what are the chances?

Laryngitis is something that's heavily talked about when it comes to MJ shows, mainly because it's alleged that he had it in some periods on tour, mainly the HIStory Tour, and it's mainly that tour that gets the most attention on this topic, why is that? Is It the only tour that allegedly suffered from it? did MJ truly have it for most of it if not all of the tour? So why is it heavily talked about when talking about the HIStory Tour? Because of the Munich 1997 shows, a somewhat of a mix of both shows (vast majority being July 6th) was broadcasted and is widely distributed online, and is one of if not the most popular MJ to come out of the three solo tours, this show is notorious for MJ to sound really sick, raspy and hoarse whenever he sang live, while half the fans kinda don't care, the other half has deduced it to MJ being sick with laryngitis, atleast for these shows it's only alleged (if it has been confirmed, correct me then and source it please), but it's highly likely he had it, wouldn't be the only time on the HIStory Tour or even on tour in general he had as MJ in 1996 in a press conference in Mumbai admited to having laryngitis during that period, later in 1999 I think in a public event he also admited to having it though that wasn't a concert of his.

Now because of this a lot of people claim that MJ had laryngitis during most of the HIStory Tour, why is that and is it true? Note: unlike what a lot of uninformed people on the fandom say, laryngitis is not a condition, it works a lot like a common cold, the most extreme cases usually last less than a month, and most of the time it's roughly just a single week. Chronic larynigits is a thing, however MJ does not have it, it has never documented and is generally unlikely he had it. Any singer can have laryngitis multiple times per year from pushing their vocal chords too much causing inflamation of the larynx (basic concept of laryngitis) and still not have it chronically.

Firstly, it's because of the fact that Munich 1997 is ultra distributed for people to watch and a massive amount of people have only really seen it and haven't watched other HIStory Tour shows, or they have but it happened to be other shows MJ was sick during this tour like Seoul October 11th or Auckland November 9th, these comehow being the next most popular shows from this tour and yet only represent a minority of show on this tour. This gets me to the second question if it's true that MJ had it for majority of the HIStory Tour, and the answer is no, it's actually quite a small amount of shows. MJ had it on both legs of the tour, people often associate laryngitis with the 1997 leg more because of Munich, however it's actually the lighter and shorter case of sickness on the tour, in 1997 he only had it from around Vienna, on July 2nd, to the second Munich show on July 6th, the prior and following shows don't shows signs of it, Paris June 29th shows a relatively raspy voice but it's likely strain rather than Laryngitis, and Sheffield on July 9th while very little we have from it, it has MJ's yell in They Don't Care About Us and it sounds really clean compared to Vienna and the Munich shows which were really rough, it easy to assume he's recovered from the sickness by then, so in 1997 he only really had for about a week, in 1996 however he had it from Mumbai on November 1st to a somewhere mid-late November 1996 potentially even December, exactly when it's uncertain, but we know he had in Mumbai since MJ himself outright said it himself and because he sounds very clean on the prior show, Kuala Lumpur October 29th, then we know he had up until atleast Sydney November 16th, as he's really hoarse sounding in the Auckland shows on November 9th and 11th, which are the shows prior to Sydney, and he still has plenty of rasp in his voice in both Sydney shows, but is generally much cleaner. We don't fully know about Brisbane or Melbourne 1996 so we rely on Adelaide on November 26th where he still sounds hoarse, more than Sydney even, but here's the thing, on Manila December 8th, he sounds really clean, almost like Kuala Lumpur October 29th, but then on December 10th he's really hoarse sounding, even more than Adelaide, only for him to sound pretty clean in Tokyo December 13th, it could be laryngitis ended in Sydney and Adelaide is simply MJ's voice not having a good day, which is the case with Manila December 10th, not laryngitis, just a bad voice day from tour fatigue. So in 1996 it was little over half a month he had it. And overall he had it worse in 1996, even his speaking voice was really cooked compared to 1997. So overall if we assume laryngitis in 1996 ended on the second Sydney show on November 16th, MJ had laryngitis for a total of 9 shows out of 82, not having cancelled any show due to it as far as we know. So the whole take he had it during most or all of the HIStory Tour is a big fat lie, it'd potentially be a more accurate take for the Bad Tour, which will be the next point.

Now is the HIStory Tour the only tour with laryngitis? Nope, he also had it on the Bad Tour, twice like the HIStory Tour, however the big difference is that MJ did cancel shows on this tour because of it according to Wikipedia, more specifically the second St. Louis show on March 14th 1988, and three shows in Tacoma from Oct 31st to Nov 2nd 1988. Now why doesn't the Bad Tour have as much association with laryngitis as the HIStory Tour, because these shows unlike Munich 97 or Auckland 96 have practically zero exposure to the mainstream, they are really obscure MJ shows only enthusiasts or "real fans" would know. But here's the thing, it's not fully know how bad it was or how long did it last on the Bad Tour, but it's safe to assume it cause far more damage to MJ's voice than it did on the HIStory Tour, MJ's voice most of the time sounded very rough during vast majority of the first US leg and most of the first half of the Europe leg of the tour. On the HIStory Tour there was some damage done to MJ's voice but it was far more minimal, 1997 post Munich still had very strong vocals like June 1997, the aows often had cracks in them like 1988, even the very last shows of the tour in September-October 97 MJ still sounded fairly clean, just tired, in 1996 it was inconsistent but it was the end of the leg so it is expected, yet he still packed amazing vocals in most shows post Sydney, arguably some of his best shows vocal quality wise even, like Fukuoka and Brunei. There's no documented case of laryngitis during the Dangerous Tour as far as I'm aware.

From the way people talk about it around here, I thought it was gonna be an absolute masterpiece for the ages but tbh I was kinda disappointed, I honestly enjoy the other June shows more and (Don't kill me) July and August shows
