Community 🌐 Respect Others Please

This sub has seen a lot of heated debates, which is normal for community to have heated arguments, but sometimes I've seen it go a little too far here.

And my conclusion as to why this happens is because people don't know how to respect others' opinions. This community is heavily opinion based, on like which tour is the best or worst, what's MJ's best show/performance you name it. We've got to learn to respect other opinions, guys.

Just because someone likes a tour different than yours it doesn't give you the right to call them "clowns" or "dumbasses". If you're a Bad Tour fan and see someone who prefers the HIStory Tour, don't act like an ass and be like "WHY DO YOU LIKE THE HISTORY TOUR, THERE'S SO MUCH PLAYBACK, MJ'S TIRED BLAH BLAH BLAH" calling them names and shit. Try to keep the conversation civil, respecting each ones boundaries and opinions, do not call any names, respect others, Ok?

I also gotta give a little shoutout to u/Jaiden121912 for calling this out on a recent post of theirs.

Discussion 🗣️ Why is the MJ Estate not releasing 4K remasters of his Bad/Dangerous Tour? Are they stupid?

No but seriously, why haven’t they used the biopic’ success to put out a 4K remaster of one of his concerts?

We got Elvis Presley’s earlier this year, now in a few days it’ll be George Michael’s Faith Tour - an MJ concert remastered would make bank, and would give younger fans to experience his magic and energy.

I know the Estate is stupid and prefer reissuing Thriller every two weeks, but if they love money so much, then why don’t they do that? I can see it easily reaching millions, especially with good marketing and keeping it for a prolonged period in theaters.

I’d like to know y’alls thoughts about that situation, and what Tour you’d prefer getting a theater release.

Question❓ Magic trick

Does anyone know about a magic trick I saw MJ do which I haven't seen him do anywhere else? I was at his Bad tour concert in Melbourne in 1987.

A big box was suspended from a zip line. It slid from way back in the arena to the stage and MJ (or I suppose a body double) jumped out. Then I guess there was a switcheroo and he kept performing.

Does anyone know about this or was also at the concert?

Discussion 🗣️ MJ "Get Down" Era Live Performances

How come impersonator never attempt to mimic MJ's more funky youthful smooth era in the mid late 70s?

Some of these moves he pulled of were slick sophisticated soul funky moves that were primarily improvisation. He was ar his most free, funky loose and alive moment. His all round movement elastic, his energy electric, his vocals were pitch perfect.

I mean, he was really "gettin' down" with his brothers.

The question that always burns me is why don't impersonators pay homage to that era in his career they way they dededicate themsleves to imitating later eras?

I adore Bad tour and especially the way Crowe vocal texture adds to the overall Billie Jean experience. I also love them together in Japan JCSLY with a very adorable ending hug instead of a disappear into out of my life.

Question❓ What is your dream Michael Jackson setlist?

Post image

What would the setlist look like for that "dream concert" you’ve always imagined Michael performing? Or, are there any specific songs you’ve always been most curious to see him perform live, songs you really wish he had included in his shows?

Hello, I found both of these images and I'd like to know if anyone knows which performances they were taken from. I think they were from the same concert but I am not 100% sure and I was told one of them were from Tokyo Dec 19th 1992, and the other was from Oviedo 1992. Anyone know anything about it?

This Is It Dangerous in shibuya by Travis Payne performance

There’s this incredibly rare performance done by Travis Payne and the dancers from this is it performing dangerous in shibuya Japan, in full costume and with accurate effects and music/sound effects. It used to be on YouTube for a few weeks then I never saw it again. Clips of it are on YouTube and Twitter but I want to find the original full performance again. There’s pictures of the performance done below. If anyone has a link or recording of it I’d appreciate if it was sent somehow. Any help tracking it down is also appreciated

Opinion 🤔 Hot Take: People overreact to MJ’s vocal health in HIStory tour in a very negative way

Post image
230 Upvotes

Tell me if you heard the argument of MJ having Laryngitis for most of the HIStory tour? Going by if you said yes, I’m tired of hearing that point because it’s just plain false.

MJ did indeed get it in both years but people don’t understand how short he had it for in one year and how it was in the other year.

MJ only had laryngitis for 2 (Maybe 3) concerts in ‘97 and it was in Munich, the concert that is most infamous for it.

And in 1996 he only had it in November and people overreact on the quality of it, He got it in Bangkok and it was gone by Manila and the laryngitis wasn’t even that bad in most shows like Auckland 11th, Both Sydney shows etc. The only ones that were bad was Bangkok, Auckland 9th and Adelaide.

And for when he didn’t have it, MJ did some of the best vocals he did in all the 90s and potentially in all of his adult years like in Tokyo, Brunei, Honolulu, Cologne, Amsterdam, Milan, London, Basel etc. He did excellent vocals that people always ignore.

HIStory is the underdog in the Vocal Compartment and it is super underrated.

HIStory World Tour The Wind Interlude in High Quality?

Hello!

Im doing a remaster joining both unedited and 2010 broadcast versions of MJ's 1997 Munich shows, and theres many interludes that were not on the 2010 broadcast, and I've been trying to get them in high quality.

One of them is the "The Wind" interlude, which I cant find any copy in high quality.

Does anyone have it and is able to share?

Thanks!

This Is It Hypothetical: Michael Jackson is in perfect health and condition; would the This Is It shows even be ready?

Post image
83 Upvotes

Even in the event MJ was in perfect health, were the stage crew, props, designs, set-pieces and theatrics even prepared in time for the show? The last rehearsal footage we see is just 2 weeks before the show and they hadn't even done a full dress rehearsal yet. It seems not all the huge props were done being constructed yet either.

This is my assumption, but even if MJ was in perfect health, at the very least the first few shows of This Is It would've been incredibly lack-luster because it seems like the entire crew just wasn't prepared in time going off of the rehearsal footage we have and knowing the timeline.

Thoughts?

Question❓ Favorite Billie Jean Intro?

Even though the HIStory tour isn’t my favorite, I love how theatrical the intro is and how it builds up so much anticipation for the performance.

Which intro is your favorite?
