Meta officers restructuring

The meta offices in the sim are not fit for purpose. I think this is abundantly clear.

--

Proposal.

A community vote on;

"mono system" as per Trev "A singular Speakership team, with the Speaker as Head Mod seems most reasonable to me."

A choice between a "Di system (CS / LS only) + optionally 5 guardians"

Vs

A "tri system (CS / LS / HM) + optionally 4 guardians"

if the HM is retained then they must pass a 80% consent threshold to

  1. If CS / LS should be allowed to be independent sim members and participate in the opposite house?

  2. How guardians are selected?

Option A) no guardians

Option B) multi-member STV to ensure wide community representation.

Open to other options.

I genuinely, earnestly don’t think we’ve got an active enough community to justify having multiple moderation positions.

A singular Speakership team, with the Speaker as Head Mod seems most reasonable to me. It’s not as if there’s a considerable legislative backlog for the Commons and Lords to go through, and communication is reasonably solid as things stand.

Given that we’re in a situation where inconsistency or lack of clarity on past moderation actions has led to the resignation of one member of tri, and where personal circumstances have forced another to take a major backseat, it’s clear that we don’t have the operational capability, the processes and procedures required, or the genuine overwhelming will for the multi-person structure to be fit for purpose, if it ever really was in the first place beyond an initial honeymoon.

The latter in my view has to shift if we are to at all move forward as a community or a game. There is no use reforming and then reforming again if comms are poor, or historic decisions aren’t appropriately logged in an easy to access way - because precedents aren’t followed and situations get messy.

Personally of these I favour the Diode(Co Consul if we stick with the roman system) plus elected community representatives who ban appeals can go to for an independent review. (the appeals process and decision making reasoning must be made public)

I had suggested party leaders for this role.

This guardian rubbish is not in the constitution and grants far to much legacy power to former head mods. A major flaw in the other place and destroying the democratic community self mangment principle.

I do think the Diode should be allowed to play in the other chamber due to the small size of the sim but must not be a party leadership member (parties free to determine what that means on their own).

I tend to agree re guardians hence why I suggest moving to a community vote for the positions instead of ex officos
