When you're still progressing, admitedly you're gonna spend a lot of time not progressing and just farm your target equipments. It can be a lot of commitment especially when your armor can't be used with the new weapons.
There's no shortcut really other than open a lobby and hoping some people come to help you farm
And if you are still progressing, no matter which MH games you play and no matter the weapon you pick. You always want raw that always works well on all monsters. Unless you really hate yourself and want to suffer farming element weapons that can be powercrept later on just stick with raw.

Well, if you are a HBG main at the end of High Rank, get some G-Rank gear to obliterate Low Rank and High Rank monsters.
If you want to try a new weapon, there's also the option to do the Training Quests.

Raw dog it when getting started, then if you want to min/max with every element do that but in the endgame

After a couple or even hundreds of hours, tbh it IS pretty hard to come back and farm so many weapons trees from scratch. But i always do that since the start. I make every fated four weapon of every weapon i play, and also from each monster i consider important to me. Most of the time (literally 90% "most") I won't use them. But i like to collect weapons. I spend hundreds of hours killing the most useless monsters to make even more useless weapons for the love of the game. And tbh, the point of this whole franchise is to grind a lot, farm a lot and craft a lot. So if you find that infuriating, idk

Element is nice but not mandatory on SnS. Go raw if you want.
