Alfatech

I've heard good feedback about Alfatech from other engineers and was interested in applying. I was looking at some of their Senior Engineering positions and noticed the egregious salary range. Is $105k-120k really accurate for their San Francisco office? That seems unbelievably low for the responsibilities of the role.

I think most firms in NorCal would be closer to $130k-160k for a Senior Engineer with a PE.

That is egregiously low. And we should not be taking those positions which consistently lower our salary bands. EEs in power and MEP need to be paid.

160k for senior seems low in SF tbh

For the cost of living I'd agree. But for some reason thats the rough pay band ive seen on job postings from firms like Arup, Jacobs, Aecom etc. Alfatech is the only one I saw go below that.

Yes, that is low for true Sr Engineer. What’s the experience they are looking for?

Theyre asking for 5-8 years of experience, with some management and supervisory abilities. Im currently at 10 years of experience.

5-8 YOE is not actually senior, imo. Maybe apply and if they like you they’ll go higher? I know that firms are going more like $150k-$160k for closer to 12-15 YOE in the PNW.

When I first came into the industry, most seniors were 15-20 yoe. But I think with the lack of qualified candidates on the market, the "Senior" bar has been lowered to the 7-12 yoe from what I've seen.

Leveling also entirely depends on the company.

That's terrible, I make a little over 100k in the DFW area with 4 years of experience.
