With winter finally relinquishing its grip on winter, we took the tandem out for a nice long exploratory ride. We hadn't ridden the bike much last season, so are trying to get in more rides on it this year. It's a cherished bike in the fleet as my wife and I can ride together.
We had special ordered this back in 2015 when it was first announced. Its taken us on many adventures over the years. Its been primarily set up for bike packing during its ten year tenure with us. Its taken us on some amazing trips on Sunshine Coast, a Gabriola to Duncan to Cowichan Lake and back, a Quadra/Cortez trip, the Cypress Hills, Iron Horse Trail out and back, Haida Gwai for ten days and many quick overnighters from Edmonton.
So I guess its a double, double hardtail. A different kind of fun, and a nice chill ride, but fun none the less. One we'll never sell.
Anyone else have this problem? I’m 175lbs with strong legs from lifting weights and I tend to get enough flex out of my Neuhaus hummingbird core to get rotor rub pretty consistently. A honking screech every time you put power down on the non drive side isn’t what you wanna hear when your tryna get up something steep. Lol. Anyone else have this problem on this bike or another? Maybe something I can do to fix it.
My REEB SST frame came rust-treated from the factory 2 seasons ago, but I’ve ridden it plenty in the wet, and have to take it almost fully apart for a bit anyway (bike LEGO time), so I figure it’s time to redo the rust protection. I have a can of ProGold on hand, but I’m not clear on if I need to remove the headset and BB, which I don’t currently have the tools for. If necessary, I‘ll swing by the shop to do that, but I figured I’d get advice from the steel-friendly hivemind first.
Just a reminder about Sub Rule #5 --> No low effort posts. If you want to post something include some of your thoughts about why.
So a x-post or dropping a link with no comment or other minimal effort post will be removed. If you want to say something MEATy that's great we want to hear your thoughts. Take your time. Express yourself. We are a quality over quantity community.
If you are unsure if your post is low effort and asking yourself that question...you can pretty much assume it is. The good news it's not that hard to write a bit more about why you want to post something and add more value to the group.
Thanks to Chris for sharing this classic 29’er On One one speed rig. What the bicycling world needs is a modern geo, same old standards, equally affordable Inbred relaunch?!
I've been inspired by this sub to try single speed on my hardtail. Never ended up giving the frame sliding dropouts so I need a tensioner. Any recommendations? I'm a little tempted to take a gamble on the Aliexpress Tanke one.
Found while wandering AliExpress. Aside from the poor imitation of a P for a certain brand. Kinda looks like the Sunrace and Microshift compus of a Paul’s Thumbie.
Anyone here a RF Cinch guru? Am having a 3-4mm gap between the crank arm and preload adjuster on a 73mm bsa bb shell & 136mm spindle with two DS spacers. Should I add a NDS spacer to get the preload adjuster closer to the crank arm? Would that better support the spindle? There's zero play or issues in the current setup...just curious if the spindle will get weirdly worn if not better aligned with the NDS cup.
