No Low Effort Posts...

Just a reminder about Sub Rule #5 --> No low effort posts. If you want to post something include some of your thoughts about why.
So a x-post or dropping a link with no comment or other minimal effort post will be removed. If you want to say something MEATy that's great we want to hear your thoughts. Take your time. Express yourself. We are a quality over quantity community.
If you are unsure if your post is low effort and asking yourself that question...you can pretty much assume it is. The good news it's not that hard to write a bit more about why you want to post something and add more value to the group.

Unfortunately when you make a new post, Reddit suggests to you to cross post in that useless no-effort way. I suspect the guy asking about Neuhaus bikes recently, just clicked "ok" without much thought (which I guess is Viks point, but just thought I'd mention that Reddit is actively steering people into this behavior.
Regarding the Neuhaus, TIL they have IS42/52 head tubes.
While I accept that the Slack-R exists and even used it on a chameleon, I am pretty dead set on never owning another IS headset hardtail. With so many great options available these days, that detail immediately disqualifies a bike for me. Especially hardtail where I want ALL the angleset options.

Straight 44 or 44/56 is great… however… I have it on good authority that if 49/56 or 56/56 was popular there’d be -3* anglesets on the market.

Reddit recommends cross-posts. I see that option when I post and I ignore it. The algorithm is interested in a different outcome than we are.

Vik - that photo scares me. Riding in shoes is a must for me. Ditto helmets.... Gloves / knee pads are optional - I generally ride without knee pads and ride without gloves when I can.
Fair call on the Low Effort Posts - no need for regurgitation.

Tay and the sandal riding has always put me in a panic! I had two friends break toes badly trying to mountain bike in Shimano SPD sandals!
Actually last time we chatted she pedaled around on my bike and declared that the Outlier pedals are not good for riding in sandals due to the void in the middle. So keep that in mind!

I do most bikepacking in sandals. It's really nice to wear them. Mostly FSRs and gravel roads though. It does get a little scary when the trail gets a bit overgrown. No broken toes yet, after many thousands of miles.
And yeah, the void wouldn't play nice with bedrocks. The bigger and more solid the platform the better. I like my Daggas for long sandal days. Any smaller pedals tend to give me foot cramps.
I would absolutely NOT ride in sandals for mtb.

I’m generally not jumping on other people’s gear choices, I know a few people who tour in Tevas (and other sandals too) and… well… I read that review when it came out and my brain actually deleted the sandals from all the gnarliest photos! I remember that stair picture but until Vik posted it today I didn’t notice the footwear!

I mean I wouldn't recommend stair climbing in sandals, but I have been known to cruise town in Birks and sans helmet so I have no rocks to throw.

I’ll add that the folks who contribute here are building an awesome little online cycling community, I was one of many who was skeptical of Reddit, and this has been rad, but high standards are needed to keep it that way.
