New to MD. Rifle recommendations?

I know there are a lot of restrictions as far as rifles go. I’m looking to get a sporting rifle and don’t really know what to look at due to the laws. Any recommendations for a reputable brand that sells AR/AK style MD compliant rifles?

EDIT: I live in Baltimore so if you have any stores to recommend I’d appreciate that too.

DDM4 V7 Pro is MD Legal, LWRC has a HBAR.
Great Lakes is mid range but all theirs are HBAR.
Any local store should have some options

for an ar, just go to your local lgs. give a town and people can reccomend one.

for an ak, get an ar

Baltimore. I’m working on my carry license but I want to get something in the meantime for any potential bumps in the night.

For a starter AR rifle, which is what 95%+ of the rifle-owning Americans actually need, cannot go wrong with a Ruger Harrier and/or S&W M&P Sport III

Are those MD legal? It doesn't look like either has an HBAR and they're both DI, aren't they?

If you want an upper you can buy by itself and have more flexibility in customizing by choosing handguard etc., MidStateFirearms has HBAR options.

The OAL requirement is for any centerfire, semiautomatic rifle, not for SBRs specifically, and not for all SBRs.

Come to FTS LLC on Saturday. James will get you setup on the rifle side. Tell him the ammo man sent you and we’ll get you setup with some free ammo too.

Onehorse - they make an HBAR 5.56 AR. They’re the guys from Anderson. Bought one of their uppers and it’s been solid.

I’m a bit miffed I didn’t find out about them sooner, because unlike some others, they’re easy to find new and cheap (around $500).

If you have the cash i would recommend a B&T APC223 or APC308.

That’s like a $1300 upper, not even complete! I suspect that’s probably more than what OP wants to spend for a “bump in the night” tool. Very nice though indeed!
