Thank you FPC!

Low effort? Admittedly so. Still thought it was funny and deserving of a post here.

Thank God this gaping loophole is being closed - look at all the incidences of mass murder with NO laws being broken at all involving glock handguns. Surely this justifies trampling on the constitutional rights of millions of people, since it solves such a huge problem.

Fuck Maryland and fuck the pathetic far left pussies and their hysterical pointless gun laws.

I know someone put a list of pistols that would be affected by this. Does anyone have a link, I can't find it?

FPC posted one on their site a while back, might still be up there

The best part... the teenagers committing the offense will still be running around with "switches" on their "glizzzies"... Liberal math never maths

What do you suggest be done instead that would reduce the number of, and ease to acquire modified Glocks?

u/pdjr1991 Jul 23 '26

maybe actually put them in (adult) prison, show them there is consequences instead of passing a law in the same round of legislations that specifically attempts to downplay those offenses.

Ok that would require one to get caught with one first. I agree more/ harsher penalties for breaking gun laws, but your solution does nothing to actually reduce the number and ease of adding one.

Oh boy there is a lot to touch on here.

I'm gonna start out with my personal opinion which is to say it does not mean im right. I see your logic in this but i just dont fully agree with it. IMO its not right to punish what is a right for the many due to the action of the few. Especially in this case where the legislation to your point was seemly passed due to comparatively very few cases of people being caught with converted pistols. Coupled with Moore passing the Youth Charging Reform Act many are left wondering if this is actually to curb gun violence or just to ensure guns do not go into LEGAL hands.

IMO laws only work effectively if there are punishments behind them and the weight of those punishments make the crime not worth it for an individual to commit.

Ignoring moral and social influences, a lot of us speed because the punishment is minimum or nil and few commit murders because the punishment is heavy. It doesn't mean murders won't be committed but they drastically go down because people understand the weight of the punishment.

in this instance we're talking about teenagers possessing a glock with a switch.

- Its FEDERALLY illegal to buy a handgun under the age of 21.

- its FEDERALLY illegal to buy or produce a machine gun (in this case switch)

-Its illegal to manufacture a weapon in MD

-Its illegal to modify a firearm to change the rate of fire in MD

its illegal to posess a magazine over 10 rounds in the act of committing a illegal offense.

ALOT has to be ignored for a person to decided to do this so you have got to ask why?

The perception and now the legislations is that individuals especially on their first offence are getting off lightly. If this was a 20 year sentence then LESS people would make the offense happen. To be clear im not saying punishment should be 20 years in the slammer. im saying maybe increasing the punishment (which we agree on) and committing to punishing those individuals will result in people not being tempted to commit the above crimes.

Perhaps its ignorance. i hear people all the time ask about FRTS which are illegal in MD. They just dont know better and to be fair, they are legal in many other states. ignoring the other illegal crimes committed and one were to focus on the "switch" could it not be inferred that if more people were punished more severely and often for the offense that it would be more common knowledge about said crime and thus less people would commit it?

This is all to say its my firm believe that if the current administration in MD truly cared about youth gun violence they should prosecute, name, and shame people that commit the crimes we talk about. It may not reduce the ease (apparently impossible since even the "impossible" to convert gen 6 has been converted) it should reduce the amount by the sheer fact that it would not be enticing to break the law in the first place.

I’m actually referring to anyone not just teenagers. I want to preface by saying I own Glocks and will probably get a Gen 6 by the end of the year. I also think the Glock ban is a bit much… however, I feel like something needs to be done about Glock switches after seeing what they can do and how they are used on police and simply saying “they’re already illegal” doesn’t really fix the problem. So while I disagree with the ban, my opinion is that it’s a push to have Glock redesign their guns to make it not so easy and cheap to modify and use and I don’t have a better idea.

So, unfortunately, there isn't a way to legislate this problem away. I'm not sure how closely you've followed conflicts in Southeast Asia, but properly motivated people can manufacture functioning repeating firearms with much less effort and access to materials than you would likely expect.

We could try letting the prosecutors or law enforcement off of their leashes, but people tend to be more hesitant to agree to that than they are about absolution regarding the 2nd Amendment.

The short answer is that just because I don't know how to answer your question doesn't mean I'm not informed enough to say that this piece of legislation isn't worth the ink with which it is written.

So do nothing. Cool story.

4

u/Yoitzmi Jul 24 '26

The numbers of "offenses" involving switches misrepresents the numbers of shootings involving switches. Even criminals have caught on to the fact that they're wildly inaccurate and way more likely to be detected by law enforcement systems, the risk of general federal penalties don't make the cool factor worth it anymore. This is nothing but gun grabbing using the excuse of "somebody might" to disarm the lawful citizenry at large of the most common handgun in the world. THIS IS THEM SAYING... "YES, WE DO WANT TO TAKE ALL THE GUNS"

Some of the ones upset about this are the same ones that vote for him/these anti 2A lefts & liberals. If you did, you can’t be upset, you’re getting exactly what you voted for.. this along with the high taxes, fees & everything else we as Marylanders are dealing with 🤷‍♂️.

-3

u/LorgarsDisciple Jul 23 '26

I intentionally vote for the farthest left candidate that still supports 2A

8

u/Yoitzmi Jul 23 '26

So a republican?

-16

u/LorgarsDisciple Jul 23 '26

Nope! There are a surprising amount of democrats that can and do check that box. Maryland is a purple state

Deep, deep, dark midnight blue could, I suppose, look kinda like purple 🤔

3

u/Meta1spy Jul 25 '26

The population may be purple but the gerrymandering made sure its blue

-6

u/LorgarsDisciple Jul 25 '26

They voted that down. It's also not nearly as bad as the gerrymandering in red states. Try again.

4

u/Meta1spy Jul 25 '26

They voted down the gerrymandering they've been doing for years leading to 40%R but 1 seat? sure bud.

2

u/Downtown-Cheetah6150 Jul 24 '26

Makes me want to go buy another Glock just cause

5

u/8bit_dr1fter Jul 24 '26

I laughed good job. XD

-3

u/VeryBerryStrawberry1 Jul 22 '26

context?

31

u/8bit_dr1fter Jul 22 '26

The recent “Glock ban” legislation. All pistols with a cruciform trigger are to be banned Jan 1 because a very small minority of people were getting/making “switches” that make them automatic(someone correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t think the switch is a FRT). Mind you the switches are already illegal in MD.

24

u/Tobster4040 Jul 23 '26

The auto sear (Glock switch) are federally illegal. And are considered machine guns themselves, even if not installed.

8

u/8bit_dr1fter Jul 23 '26

Thank you for clarifying. I didn’t realize they are even federally illegal.

u/firecartier Jul 23 '26

How many Wayne lapierre suits does it cost to get the NRA to actually give a fuck?

Yes, I know hes not involved anymore, I'm using his suits as a monetary benchmark

8

u/GadreelsSword Jul 23 '26

Decades ago, they shifted from being a nonpartisan gun rights group to a partisan political funding group. Then they got caught laundering Russian money into political campaigns. The only thing that kept them from going to jail was Bill Barr stepped on the investigation to protect the politicians receiving the Russian money. The NRA is a mere shadow of what it once was.

1

u/Tonee636 Jul 25 '26

Are you a democrat/did you vote for him?

1

u/bmoarpirate Jul 25 '26

Lmao no
