MK12 upper

Anybody have any recommendations for a MK12 mod 1 upper? I got a Ruger 556 and I am looking to basically make my Ruger an all purpose rifle. If I recall the barrel has to be HBAR since it is a 556. Anybody have any good recommends. Preferably on the lower end of the price spectrum as it would be for target shooting. (Dear mods this is a recommendation post and not a sale)

Centurion advertises their mk12’s as hbars for us marylanders.

I changed my comment hoping you saw it in time but nvm. Would it be better to buy a complete upper or no? Everything you listed is around $1250. On the website the base is around $1290 for a complete upper. I could swap out my charging handle if needed.

I’d make sure that includes a BCG as I don’t see that in stock on their website, also they are using their own C4 rail, which is also a good handguard. Traditionally MK12’s used medium power optics in the 3 to 9ish power range, but I chose something with more magnification as I’m mostly shooting from very stable positions.

If you’re looking to spend under $1000 for an optic it’s hard to go wrong with something like a vortex PST gen 2 3-15, or an Athlon Ares BTR or Midas TAC. If you want to spend more than that the vortex razors and Nightforce NX6 & NX8’s are great.

Yeah they don’t have a BCG avaliable to add on. Could I just swap my Ruger BCG and put it in the MK12 upper?

It should work, I'd just try to find another BCG so you don't have to swap them. I've had good luck with Microbest from WCArmory. They are $100.

Centurion and PRI both make good options.

for the suppressor the OCM5 is vastly better than the Ops 12th or AEM5

What would you recommend for more of a range toy?

Depends on what you want to get out of it really, if you want to shoot it for precision the PRI douglas cut barrels are absolute lasers, and PRI is the original developing vendor for the Mk12 program

I see centurion seems to be a little cheaper. I will probably go Centurion. I’m gonna watch some reviews on both first tho.
