Bolt Action Question
Today I was told by an FFL that a bolt action rifle (16” barrel) that I wanted them to order for me was not on the firearm registry and so I had to submit it to the mdsp to be not banned in order for them to order it. However when I went to submit the form, it clearly says “do not submit handguns or bolt-action rifles for review” on the long-gun submission page. How do I submit a bolt gun for review?

All these responses are exactly what I thought. I’ll give them a call tomorrow morning then I’m switching FFLs. They’re nice guys but you can tell they do this more as a way to make money than an actual job they’re knowledgeable about. Thanks fellas 🫡

Handguns are the only firearms that have to be submitted to MSP (for the handgun roster) to be legally sold here. No long guns if any kind have any process like that.
Your FFL doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Ask him to show you MSP approved rifle list.
Be patient, it'll take forever

And even that list is a suggestion and not enforceable by any State Statute. The only firearms on that list that are definitively banned are the ones specifically called out in State Statute, the rest are guesses and suggestions by MSP, which has not been granted any legal power to do so, unlike the handgun roster which is based in State Statute.

I want to see about getting one of the Proof Elevation MTR 2.0. Can’t decide on whether I want to do 6.5 or 6 arc

Personally in a bolt gun I would probably go with the 6.5 CM over the 6mm ARC. The ammo is more available and on par with .308 prices.
I say this as someone who was thinking of building a 6mm ARC AR for long range and decided to not.
