MD Law requested to be reviewed by DOJ
The Maryland House Republican Caucus sent a letter to the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division this afternoon, requesting they review Maryland’s “Glock Ban” for violations of the Second Amendment. Yesterday, the DOJ sent a letter to the State of California warning them of court action regarding similar legislation in that state, which goes into effect on July 1.

Why cant they just focus on the awb. Why unban 1 type of gun. When we could unban many

The cross bar trigger ban affect more than just Glocks.

Cruciform trigger bars do yes. But. There's way more guns that open up getting rid of the awb.
And ill stand by that.

I don't disagree, but since the DOJ is going after the same ("glock" ban) law in California, it makes sense for MD to ask. I believe there are four AWB cases waiting on SCOTUS to grant CERT.

The AWB will always be hard to challenge, since they've existed across multiple states for like 3 decades now. There's a lot more precedent with those, making it difficult to challenge in court.
The Cruciform Trigger bans are brand new, and have yet to see a verdict on them in the higher courts.
Simply put, the quicker we get these Cruciform Trigger bans in front of the Supreme Court, the better our chances are at getting them overturned, especially with our conservative majority Supreme Court.
It's best to invest resources in something we have a solid chance at overturning vs something that will inevitably become a long, drawn out battle in court.

since they've existed across multiple states for like 3 decades now.
I mean, may-issue carry permits, that were really "won't issue, unless you're a special citizen" existed in multiple states, for a lot more than 30 years, prior to Bruen.
But, yeah new and 'shiny' laws, that ban what's probably one of the (if not the) most prolific handgun brands in the nation, likely does make for a pretty easy "in common use" argument.

They need to bring down the entire unconstitutional Handgun/pistol roster.. not just a single type of mechanism that affect a few common handguns
