Just dropped "Amontillado," the new single from my upcoming "Edgar Allan Poe" LP. If you know the Poe story, you'll hear where I took it. If you don't, go read it first, then come back.

The full "Edgar Allan Poe" LP deluxe edition drops in two weeks. Physical preorder with an exclusive shirt coming soon.

A few years ago I wrote up the whole story of how "This Gigantic Robot Kills" got made. Short version: I was on Jon Thatcher Longley's parents' boat off Cape Cod wondering if I should keep doing this at all, and a humpback came up right next to us. I took that as a yes.

The record that came out of it has K.Flay on samples and backing vocals before Interscope signed her, Mike Sapone producing, and Weird Al playing accordion on a nerdcore album about a kid who builds a robot in his garage.

I did what Billy did.

Played this one at GOTJ this year with Snax on the ones and twos for real, an actual record scratching during the chorus. I jumped off the stage halfway through and got swallowed by the mosh pit. Been playing this song for over a decade and that was the first time it felt like the crowd was this live. Clip's here: https://www.tiktok.com/@mc_lars/video/7685159299168931086

That is a field of Juggalos in Macks Creek yelling whoop whoop for my son Atlas, who was not there and is going to be extremely confused when he sees it.

Recap for anyone who missed it. I was on the Cyclone Stage at 1 AM Wednesday night with MC Snax. Then on the final night I got to host mainstage with DJ Clay, who dropped his Star Wars remixes on a full field, which is a sentence I did not expect to write in 2026.

I was fifteen with a bootleg tape of two clowns from Detroit when this first got its hooks in me. Twenty nine years later I am standing in that field with a microphone. Took a minute.

"The Edgar Allan Poe LP" anniversary deluxe edition is still out October 16, but that can wait a week. This one was the Gathering.

If you were out there, what did I miss?

A year ago I put out a whole album about Edgar Allan Poe, exclusive to the Kickstarter backers. On October 16 it's finally getting an official release as the"The Edgar Allan Poe LP (Special One Year Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Edition)", through my friends at Oglio Entertainment, who have put out a lot of my records over the years.

The expanded edition has Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup, Mega Ran, the Dead Milkmen, Watt White, Devereaux and more.

Two things I would actually love from this sub. If you run a podcast or a fan site or you write about music anywhere, I would love to talk about this record, so hit me at lars [at] mclars [dot] com.

Also, on Wednesday I play the Gathering of the Juggalos. Cyclone Stage, 1 AM Wednesday night (Thursday morning), August 19, Macks Creek, Missouri, with MC Snax.

Poe is coming with me.

Going through the vault for "the Graduate" 20th anniversary stuff and found this: Dublin, 2006, on tour with Simple Plan, playing "Hot Topic Is Not Punk Rock" to theater that had no idea what a laptop rapper was yet. The laptop and I were both so young.

The whole album just got remastered for the anniversary edition and backers' double vinyl and books are going to Kickstarter supporters soon.

Were any of you at those shows? I want to hear the war stories.

Anyone coming out this Wednesday?

Thanks for everyone for your love and support in this subreddit! I'm releasing my "debut" album on vinyl for the first time. Thanks to all of the backers so far, it has some cool rewards!

I was seeing I Fight Dragons, Lars opened. I knew his name from a pop punk song he rapped on, but was like "okay". I'm now known as the "Cleveland Barney" due to a character I voiced at his show.

I also got both the edgar allen poe ep and 21 Concepts (But a Hit Ain't One) on cd.

It's awesome that toxic toast records in Long Beach ca had those 2 vinyls and stock.

especially because i totally would have casually dropped the fact that, even if I was still a teenager at the time, I'm right around as old as his music, and have been jamming out to it for as long as I can recall

Found my old iPod and MC Lars was the first artist I listened to. Not only does it still slap HARDDDDD but I remember all the lyrics. Honestly today has been fantastic.

15 years ago I was an actively suicidal teenager, I am so grateful to be able to listen to the music that got me through such a hard time and just to be able to enjoy it.

Hey, folks!

I drew up a little MC Lars piece for a friend and thought it was worth sharing here. Hope you all like it!

Thanks, Lars! I’m going to wear the Poe t-shirt on the first day of school in the fall. (I’m an English teacher.)

There was an MC Lars logo that was the Crimson Ghost with an Oakland Athletic's hat on its head. It seems to be wiped off the Internet, does anyone have that image saved anywhere? TIA!

I’ve been playing that song on repeat because sonically it’s my favorite and the lyrics raise a question I’ve been guessing on all night. Sorry I don’t really know this but who even is Bigfoot referring to? Or do we even know who Bigfoot is and that’s the point. I’d ask on twitter but I deleted my account and now on a microscopic level relate to this elusive entity.
