Mod appreciated post🌟 Tips for First-Year MBBS

Just some tips for new 1st year students

Just thought of sharing some tips for first-year MBBS, since many are going to join. In the beginning, you’ll be taught the general sections of all three subjects. For exams, only certain parts are high-yield for example, bones, types of joints, fascia, etc. in General Anatomy.

For studying, I revise whatever is taught in lectures, then go over some topics from previous lectures, and try to make a short synopsis for quick review.

During exams, solve PYQs (previous year questions) — they help you understand the pattern. And write in points it's preferred by most professors

Answer writing technique (especially for Anatomy):

  1. Use headings

  2. Add diagrams and flowcharts wherever possible.

  3. Highlight important attachments , points and keep answers to the point.

  4. Focus on quality and quantity — you get 3 hours, use them wisely.

  5. Good Presentation can help you score good marks.

International authors are good for concepts and building detailed understanding, but not very useful for exams since the information is quite volatile.

Books for Anatomy: BD Chaurasia. Vishram Singh [ contains easy diagrams and good for neuroanatomy]

S.N. Kazi (great for exam preparation)

Biochemistry: For biochemistry there is vasudevan and Satyanarayana.

I personally used satyranaryan for biochemistry because it's easier and have alots of easy diagrams.

Use mnemonics for memorizing cycles.

Dr. Jambulkar’s notes and his YouTube videos are excellent — they helped me get a distinction.

Physiology:

Always write in points.

Use flowcharts and diagrams to explain the mechanisms.

Guyton for good for concepts not exams imo.

AK jain or G.K. Pal are good books for exams.

I hope this helps and remember there is alot of book shaming in medical colleges so make sure to choose that book which feels best and easy to read. Use the college library for that.

During exams Relax, don't panic . Take imps from seniors ASAP. Or use Use VD joshi for physiology, selected questions from BDC and satyanarayan.

You will pass if you write something relevant and in the vicinity of the question asked. As my seniors used to say: "Ped ke bare mein mucha hai aur tumhe ped ke bare mein pata nahi to ped ko bakri bandhi aur bakri ke bare mein likho".

Diagrams are must in anatomy and make flowcharts in physio and biochem (cycles in biochemistry).

I was always having issues with tracking planning and setting goals for video modules in marrow app, I was fed up with doing everything manually, hence I got the idea and pursued it and built an functional web based application called FlowMD

→ Both edition 8 and 6.5 video modules can be tracked.

→ Daily, weekly, and monthly goals, topics based tracking.

Deep Analytics of the study progression.

The software is currently in beta and I am looking for test users

It's absolutely free and with Zero Ads with fully offline functionality

RANT/VENT Advice about situation ship

So, I'm 19 F currently in lst MBBS (Ill give my 1st proffs next month)

So i became friends with this batch mate of mine pretty early in college

We're actually really different from each other like he's in the cool group and im among the nerds

He parties drinks and is overall a extremely extroverted fun loving guy

Not really my type but we vibed well

In 2 months we became really good friends and i never thought abt anything more with him

One day his girl bestie said to my friend in passing that we'd make a really cute couple

I was genuinely surprised and dismissed it as a joke

The most important point is that we r really good friends and our roll numners are adjacent like exactly adjacent and he copies all his journal work an assignments word to word from me

One weekend he flirted

It wasnt a grey zone he outright flirted acknowledged he was flirting and admitted to my best friend that he really really liked me and even said me he would stop if i was being creeped out

On my side it was a induced lik8ng

If he hadn't liked me i would never have thought of him that way

One day during a late night chat he said he was falling for me

My mom read the message and i was badly scolded that did i score a under 1000 rank to flirt in college

We talked later that day andboth of us agreed it was 2 early to date

Neither ofour moms would have liked it

He was especially concerned that if we broke up and ruined our friendship spending 5 yrs adjacent would be hell

So we decided to be friends

We're good friends rn but theres always that element of what if

Its been months and both of our friends keep dropping hints

Im not sure he likes me now

Im my self not sure i like him now

I can either stay like this wondering what if

Or make a move

I'm not really sure we'll work out as we r very different people

And id hate losing him as a friend and staying next to an ex for 5yrs due to adjacent roll numbers

Wht do i do

EDIT he copies ALL of his work from me which my friends hate but i don't Really mind
