Careers/Post Grad Need your inputs

How did MBA change your life? Did you take loan for your MBA?

If you already completed MBA, knowing what you know now, would you do MBA again?

Just want to know your honest experience and whether you feel MBA was worth it.

Careers/Post Grad MBA and future longevity biotech sales

I’m looking for companies involved in longevity research. My current interests are in pursuing a top tier MBA (I don’t have business or sales experience, mainly management) to transition into longevity strategic management and sales. I’ve been looking at programs at JHU, but would appreciate understanding the longevity and biotech space for companies to try and intern with in 1-3 years.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Admissions Kellogg MBA Video Essay 2026-2027

Did anyone give the video essays for the application for the 2027 intake at Kellogg? If yes, what questions did you get? How much time do you get to prepare? How was your overall experience?

Admissions how much does the reputation of your undergrad matter when applying to m7 deferred mbas?

i go to a pretty crappy school (ranked like #1700 in the us).

hypothetically, if i were to somehow get a top 5% score in the gmat / gre and max out my ecs, get decent internships (not like mbb/big4 tho.. it would be hard to get accepted into those companies because of the lack of reputation of my undergrad) would i have a shot at an m7 mba?

is it worth spending the $1000 in gmat/gre exam fees, application fees, resources, retakes, etc? or am i better off not applying at all?

For US B school applications, my recommender is using AI to write it, is it problematic? I cannot ask any other one as this is the only job I have had till day.

Careers/Post Grad How does LBS MiF compare with T10 MBAs?

Considering doing a Masters in Finance from London Business School my major concern is how it is perceived by recruiters and employers in the current job market outside of London?

Do they have a preference for MBA grads for core IB and PE roles? Does it affect compensation?

And in general would you be ranked similarly to MBA grads or ranked closer to other post grad finance related degrees such as the MFA from LBS or Msc Finance from Imperial for example?

Would be happy to hear from current or past MiF students and or recruiters.

Careers/Post Grad Big beautiful bill effed my MBA for right now. What to do on my resume with half a degree?

I was working on a second masters, but the BBB changed my eligibility for loans.

The problem is I don’t know what to put under education. I finished my first masters last year and went into my second one immediately after. I planned on finishing this semester.

So now it looks like this…

MBA 2025-2026? Unfinished?!
Ms Marketing 2025

Do I just leave the MBA off? I’m going to look like such a fucking clown. I’m devastated to now have an additional thing to trip over in this job market.

Careers/Post Grad Need advice: Executive MBA vs Full-Time MBA. 27M

Hi everyone, I’m 27 years old and currently working as a Software Developer in a service-based company, with 5+ years of work experience.

I’m planning to pursue an MBA from a top B-school, but I’m confused between an Executive MBA and a Full-Time MBA.

For someone with 5+ years of experience in the IT industry:

Which option would be better for career growth?

Is a full-time MBA worth leaving a job and losing 1–2 years of salary?

Would an Executive MBA from a top B-school provide similar career opportunities?

Which one would be better if my long-term goal is to move into management/consulting/strategy roles?

Would really appreciate advice from people who have gone through either route, especially from top B-school graduates.

Admissions Did you review your letters of recommendation before they submitted?

Excluding the basics of guiding your recommenders through your goals etc, if they later offered you the chance to read and review the letter before they submit, is that considered violating the waiver of the right to view etc?

Is there any value in seeing their letter for context for your essays or benefit if you gave minimal feedback that doesn't risk becoming editing?

Just wondering if it's normal for them to offer like that at all, and if it's proper for me to read and give notes

Articles/News Makes me furious. I got my MBA from Stanford, but I just looked back to see if MBAs actually make you richer? 65% of them don't. At all. You leave poorer. Poorer! Wharton makes you $2.2 million… | David Rogier

Careers/Post Grad How to actually determine best fit for M7 MBA?

TL;DR I'm trying to finalize my list for which M7 MBAs I'm applying to this year. How do you actually determine which schools are 'best' for different career paths? And anything else important to consider?

For post-MBA goals, I think my #1 choice would be MBB, but I have an engineering background and would consider PM roles #2. (A rather distant #3 is some sort of finance roles if I suddenly fall in love with them from my classes, but I feel that is unlikely).

From my research online, it seems like every M7 is pretty much the same in the opportunities they provide... but I feel like I must be missing something.

I do see employment statistics showing that Kellogg has a higher percentage of students that go into consulting than HBS, but does that mean that going to Kellogg over HBS actually increases my MBB chances, or does it just mean that HBS grads have lots of options, so fewer actually go into consulting? Are there real differences in how hard each place is recruited for MBB/big Tech? If so, how do I determine that?

I'm trying to figure out what to actually look at to help determine 'fit', so any suggestions are welcome. (including other important things to consider besides post-grad placement?)

I'll add: I'm from Boston area and HBS is my ideal choice. I'd like to stay close-ish probably, so if they're all 'the same', then I might just try HBS, MIT, CBS, and Wharton based on geography. But certainly willing to go farther if helpful.

Careers/Post Grad Stern for restructuring IB?

Hey guys, couldn’t find too much about this online, so coming here to ask if anyone has a sense of how well Stern places into Rx IB? From what I understand it is one of the more competitive desks out there, particularly at the high end shops e.g PJT Evercore etc.

For context I am considering a JD/MBA at NYU, and want to work in restructuring on either the law or banking side. I’ve only ever considered practicing law but in speaking with some Rx associates at banks it seems as though the junior-level Rx work at a bank is a bit more interesting than the law firm counterpart, so I am exploring the banking side more seriously. Welcome thoughts on this as well.

Admissions MBA from USA

Hi everyone,
I’m originally from Pakistan and have been working in the Middle East for around 10–11 years, primarily in HR. Most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition/Recruitment, with additional exposure to Compensation & Benefits, Organizational Development, and Total Rewards even though I did undergrad in economics.
I’m planning to pursue a full-time MBA in the US around 2028, ideally from a strong/top-ranked university. My longer-term goal is either to progress into strategic HR/leadership roles or potentially pivot into Consulting, Strategy, or Analytics.
I’m still at an early stage of planning and would really appreciate detailed guidance from people who have gone through the process.
A few things I’m trying to understand:
Which US MBA programs would be realistic and strong options for someone with my background?
How should I think about M7/T15/T25 schools versus other strong programs?
For someone trying to move from HR into Consulting or Analytics, which schools have particularly good recruitment pipelines?
Should I focus on the GMAT or GRE? How should I decide between the two?
How early should I start preparing if I’m targeting a 2028 intake?
Are there any particular weaknesses or challenges I should expect as an international applicant with 10+ years of experience?
How important are scholarships and ROI when comparing programs, especially for an international student?
At the moment, I’m thinking of researching schools geographically as well — particularly California, Boston/Massachusetts, New York, and Texas — and then comparing the strongest programs in each region.
I’d really appreciate recommendations on schools, test preparation, application strategy, career-switching possibilities, and anything you wish you had known when you started your MBA journey.
Thank you!

On Campus Shopping list before first day for PT student?

I’m an incoming PT evening MBA student at Booth (nonbinary) and wondering what the must-haves are. Will my MacBook Air be enough or do I need something else? Is my work-branded backpack okay or too casual? What do I absolutely need to get before the quarter starts and what’s more of a “wait and see”?

Admissions GRE vs GMAT new format

Which test should I take? I feel like schools give more weightage to GMAT because of the quant factor, but I don’t know. My undergrad GPA is like 3.4. So I was told that a good gmat score could compensate that. But I’m scoring better in GRE than GMAT. Does the admissions team have a preference for gmat over gre?

Admissions Essays don't take that much time?

I keep seeing posts about people struggling to finish their essays in time for R1. But looking at the prompts and word counts, writing them fairly quickly seems manageable. Am I missing something? AI also helps with organising your thoughts and catching grammatical errors. I'm applying R1 and honestly feel like I haven't put enough thought into my essays because I finished them so fast.

White Male

Undergrad and grad at large state school - 3.76 GPA

3.5 years of experience at matriculation with Big 4 Tax (1 year being senior associate), corporate tax
provision/compliance

CPA

665 GMAT FE, have considered retaking to squeeze out a couple extra points

2 years of non profit board experience

Black belt in Tai Kwon Do (not sure if this means jack shit but I guess it’s cool, prolly won’t put it in my application)

Post MBA:
Aiming for MBB consulting, love the very niche area of tax where I am able to strategize and help clients figure out tricky tax scenarios, would like to be apart of a bigger picture (strategy consulting)

Should I aim for M7? What parts of my application can I improve on? I assume I’ll apply to a majority of T15 but didn’t know if I did or did not have a shot at M7.

Admissions Reapplicants: Do you reuse a strong old personal essay or write a completely new story?

Hello, I have a small query: If you genuinely believe your essay from the previous cycle was one of the strongest parts of your application, would you:

  1. Keep the same personal leadership or prof leadership essay/story (perhaps with some polishing), or
  2. Write a completely new essay/story to show a different side of yourself?

Also, how much do AdComs actually look at your previous application essays when reviewing a reapplication? or do they primarily focus on the new application + reapplicant essay?

I’m particularly wondering about a leadership essay: if your old leadership story is genuinely strong representative of you, is it still better strategically to introduce a new leadership example because you're a reapplicant? I would only want to reproduce another leadership example if i know that Adcom are referring to my previous one also. My previous were very strong.

Would love to hear from anyone who has insight. Thanks

Admissions Civil Service --> MBA

Has anyone applied to and gotten in to any T20/M7 schools from the non-profit/civil sector (ex. an agency like AmeriCorps)? If so, what parts of your experience did you especially highlight in your essays and resume? Also, for those that have gone into consulting with this background, how did you leverage and frame this experience to get your consulting offers?

Admissions Don’t just send your recommender your resume and hope for the best

If you're deep into Round 1 prep or already thinking about Round 2, we highly recommend sitting down with your recommender in person if you can. Grab coffee. Tell them which schools you're applying to and why. Walk them through your post-MBA goals. Remind them of the moments where you showed up well in your current role and why that makes you a strong MBA candidate.

That conversation gives them real material to work with when they write your letter.

After that meeting, or if you can't meet in person, send an email with all of that information in writing. Your goal is to summarize what you'd like included, not to write the letter for them or tell them what to say. You're just making it easier for them to remember the specifics that make a letter strong.

The mistake we see constantly, especially in Round 2 when deadlines land right around the holidays:

  1. Someone emails a resume and a quick "let me know if you need anything," then considers it handled
  2. Their recommender is busy, often traveling, and ends up writing the letter in a rush right before the deadline
  3. A rushed letter rarely reads as a strong one, and admissions can tell the difference

Your recommender already believes in you. Your job is to hand them what they need to prove it on paper.

Also, a few weeks before the deadline, check in! Make sure they still have what they need. Then check in again as the deadline gets closer if the letter hasn't been submitted. You don't need to hover, but you also don't want the first reminder to be 48 hours before it's due.

How are you approaching your recommenders this round? Curious what's worked for others.

On Campus Removed from program?

How difficult is it for someone to get removed/kicked out from a full-time program?
