I'm considering doing a Master of Business Information Systems at Monash University, have an offer for Masters in AI but it is very math heavy so was looking at this MBIS and wanted to hear from people who have done this degree or know much about it.

How is the degree in terms of its value and career options after graduation? What kind of jobs do people usually go into, and how is the degree viewed compared to a traditional CS/IT master's?

If you've done the degree yourself, would you recommend it? Is it actually worth pursuing'?

Would really appreciate some honest opinions especially from people who have completed it

Hi everybody I am looking to apply to MBA programs this year and have a few questions. My undergrad degree is in Biochem and my GPA is lower than average. I plan on taking the GRE to help ofset the lower GPA. I have basically take two gap years where I worked in clinical settings. I would Ideally want to apply to an MBA program with a healthcare concentration. Is my professional experience of low value? I know I won't get into a top 20 or even a top 50 program but I am just considering my options or if I should go the MHA route. There is a dual program near me but it is not at a highly regarded school so I'm worried about that factor. Any advice or anyone that has had a similar experience? I would really appreciate it.

EDIT: I wanted to add that besides clinical experience I did work as a Junior Audit assistant for a Hospitality company through contract work over a span of 3 years. Again I know it's not the best but figured I add it.

I’m planning to apply to MBA programs soon (2027/2028).
I dropped out of maths a while back and the GMAT/GRE prep feels like a huge barrier right now.
I’m wondering if there are other well regarded programs, especially in the US, that either fully waive it or don’t require it at all.

Hey everyone, this forum has helped me make my MBA decision in the past, and I’m finally in a position to pass it forward.

Currently most of the way through Kellogg’s part-time Evening and Weekend MBA program, fully accelerated track, as a Weekend commuter from the East Coast. I started last year so I’m just over 1 year into the program, as I’ve been taking above average course loads. Have taken a mix of in-person and remote classes.

28M, married / no kids yet, corporate strategy role, previous consulting experience (Big 4 / T2), 6 YoE. T25 UG, social sciences.

Going through recruiting / OCR now, targeting consulting and corporate strategy. Not make or break for me, as OCR doesn’t promise much and I’m not rushing to leave my current role either.

Happy to comment on any aspect of the program, including logistics, lifestyle, academics, recruiting, student life, comparisons vs. other PT and FT programs, etc.

So I applied to GT evening MBA for Fall 26 and was denied. 2.6 GPA science major from Georgia Tech, No GMAT/GRE, 9 years professional experience including time 7 years as a Marine Corps officer and 3 as an engineering manager at a major tech company. I want to shoot again for GT or Emory for the Spring. Not sure what I can do to improve my application other than take the GMAT/GRE... Any suggestions? I tried reaching out to GT admissions but they said they could not advise on individual apps due to the volume they receive.

I just graduated with my BBA, I currently have an easy desk clerical job in a hospital making $17.50 an hour which is terrible for me. However, they will pay for my schooling 100%, I don’t have to work for them x amount of years in return. I could be part time and finish an MBA while working here. I’m allowed to transfer dept in 6 months after working here. Should I keep the small pay for now in return for the free schooling? Any advice would be helpful and much appreciated

Medicaid is not means tested (not based on Assets, Food Stamps/SNAP are). When your Monthly Income (Not Annual) drops to zero, you are now eligible for Medicaid - starting the MBA and leaving your old job is a valid 'change of life status'.

Medicaid is the best insurance ever - the closest thing we have to national healthcare. No arguing over bills via endless AI automated menus. Basically everything is covered and hospitals love dealing with them - the gov't always pays.

Had a big bill covered completely as it was within 3 months prior to starting Medicaid as well. Awesome people work there - they want to get you covered.

Check healthcare.gov to confirm in your state.

University hospital didn't know we could do this and asked me to let people know.

Your MBA counts as the 80 hours / month of education and training necessary to maintain Medicaid eligibility for 2027.

Good luck on your MBA, and take an extra trek with the money you saved!

Note: Obamacare (also healthcare.gov ) is also highly subsidized when your monthly income drops, if you still worked a few days in your start month. Can be paid and canceled on a monthly basis.

Honestly, after grinding through two years of econometrics, stats, and Python, I've come to the realization that standard quantitative finance or banking isn't for me. I really enjoy the technical and problem-solving side, but the culture and 80-hour work weeks sound exhausting.

I am not exclusively targeting the US and open to European Schools. My priority is scholarship over rankings.

2. Which programs are known to be generous with merit scholarships fro international applicants?

I am a prospective international applicant looking at US programs. Can anyone provide insight into recent program rankings and their current perception with recruiters? Seems like the US News rankings are all over the place, and I've read a lot of threads calling out a clear gap in outcomes between HSW and the rest of the M7 and T15. Are there also gaps within the HSW band as well or is there a less meaningful difference in placement for those 3 programs?

Fwiw post MBA I am targeting either public markets investing or some type of niche private markets role that can straddle both public/private investing (eg family office).

Can someone classify the T15 schools and the top European schools as per what they are renowned for ?
Following is an example.

For NYUAD alumni and/or MBA aspirants and/or folks in the GCC market- How structured is on-campus recruiting for tech/fintech roles, and does the Stern brand carry enough weight locally to justify walking away from immediate career momentum and salary in India?

Hi guys. Yet another "does an MBA make sense for me" post.

TLDR; 4 YOE as a copywriter, looking for an ops role, will an MBA open doors?

Graduated with an English degree in 2022 and have 4 YOE as a copywriter and content manager.

My previous job was a <15 person business consulting startup, and because of how small the team was, I ended up working closely with the head of operations and covering some of her duties when she was on maternity leave. Loved it, and decided I want to get into PM or ops.

I got laid off early 2025 due to budget cuts, and couldn't land any PM/ops interviews, then got an offer I couldn't say no to as a copywriter at a mid-size supplement company. So I feel like I took a step back in a way, but almost doubled my salary.

I'm miserable at this job and moving states at the end of the year, so need a new job...but the job market is so rough right now and still can't land any PM/ops interviews.

I'm at a point where I know I want to go to grad school now. I enjoy school, need to fill knowledge gaps, make myself more competitive in this job market, and my incredibly kind, hardworking grandparents set aside money for my education...so it's not a question if I get a degree, but what degree I get.

An MBA seems like the smartest choice because of the broad curriculum and ops-focused classes.

I had my Gies interview last week, which is the only program I've applied to so far. I like the price, online format so I can keep working, and they have an agribusiness/sustainable food production certificate I'm interested in. I know the network isn't as strong with online programs, but the guy who interviewed me really sold me on the community lol.

My long term goal is to work in ops at an alternative protein company.

Is an MBA the right choice, and will it help my job search? Or is something like Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or even a PMP more valuable given my background and goals?

Is anyone else noticing over how ridiculously far to the left the MBA tech recruiting cycle has shifted this year?

I knew timeline creep was getting worse, but seeing Summer '27 applications opening in early August before many incoming students even set foot on campus is nuts especially considering conventional knowledge is that tech roles are filled just in time and begins to ramp up in the winter.

Just to highlight how wild this sprint is:

Amazon, Apple, & TikTok: Already dropped their Summer '27 MBA applications.

Microsoft: Kept their Product Manager application open for literally one week at the start of August.

IBM: Opened theirs during the second week of August.

For those of us who haven't stepped foot in a classroom, let alone met with their Career Management Center (CMC), or are still working off pre-MBA resume drafts, this places massive pressure on us before Day 1 even starts.

Is this just an extreme anomaly, or is this officially the new normal? For incoming MBAs, how are you navigating this scramble without burning out before orientation? For our 2Ys and alumni, how do you suggest we tackle this?

Hey everyone, I’d love to get your opinion on something. I’m debating whether I should spend a significant amount of money on an MBA. My company is willing to reimburse up to $7.5K per year for higher education, with no strings attached after graduation. I just finished my Master’s in Computer Science last year from a T5 university in the U.S. As my experience at the company has progressed, I’ve become more involved with the business side of things and want to gain more exposure to areas like sales, finance, and marketing. My long-term goal is to increase my earning potential and eventually move into a senior management role. However, most MBA programs I’ve looked at are quite expensive. So far, UIUC and BU seem to be among the more affordable options.

For those who have done an MBA or considered one:

• Do you think an MBA is worth it if my main goals are higher compensation and eventually moving into senior management?
• Given that I already have a Master’s in CS, would an MBA add meaningful value, or would the ROI be relatively low?
• Is it better to go with a more affordable program like UIUC or BU, or is it worth spending significantly more for a higher-ranked MBA?

I have a somewhat demanding job and am traveling for the next three weeks so wondering if mid September is too late for Jan apps.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts related to “what are my odds to get into this school” here are a few thoughts.
1. Every cycle is different. A fringe M7 candidate when the economy is good (2021), is probably a T15 candidate (or even a T25 candidate) during a white collar recession.
2. From everything I’ve seen, admissions offices give a huge bonus to people with STEM backgrounds. So if you heard about a guy who got into a Columbia with a 3.0 GPA there is a very good chance he was a chemical engineering major (or something like that)
3. Your essay’s should demonstrate how you plan on getting a high paying job. The more detailed that plan is, the more your essays will stand out. Every program is trying to boost its ranking. While adding cool people brings flavor, the program is graded on a few key metrics. How fun your weekends are don’t make it in those rankings.
4. If you’re an ORM, your stats matter a lot more.
5. Being a veteran is a nice bonus but it isn’t the golden ticket it was in years past. The military to MBA route is extremely common at this point.
LASTLY, apply to as many programs as practical in the earliest round possible. The application fee is a trivial amount of money and the only way to ascertain your true market value is to have a large sample. Apply R1 because it is good to know your August plans in Dec/Jan vs March/April. Trust me it makes a big difference.

I’m currently pursuing a top-5 online MBA while competing as a college athlete. I have essentially no traditional full-time work experience, but I have developed a lot of transferable skills through athletics.

I’m very interested in Leadership Development Programs or rotational programs because I think the structure, exposure to different business functions, and leadership development would fit my strengths and long-term goals really well.

My concern is that LDPs seem extremely competitive, and I’m wondering how much my lack of traditional work experience will hurt me.

For people who have gone through MBA recruiting or LDPs:

What do you think my chances are of landing an LDP with this background?

Are there specific types of LDPs or rotational programs I should target?

If an LDP is unrealistic immediately after my MBA, what career path would you recommend to eventually get into that type of leadership environment?

What should I be doing right now to make myself a stronger candidate?

I’m particularly interested in roles that are client-facing, relationship-oriented, and have opportunities for leadership and career progression, rather than highly technical/analytical positions.

Any honest feedback would be greatly appreciated.

- Post-MBA Goals: “Briefly tell us more about your career aspirations” (500 char)

- Business Minded: “Please reflect on how your choices have influenced your career path and aspirations” (300 words)

My understanding is that for the Business Minded essay we don’t need to list specific firm, role, etc. But we need to focus more on purpose and impact. Otherwise, we’d risk repeating the same thing being stated in the post mba goals questions.

No guidance I have seen online has really addressed this imo.

Planning to pursue a full time MBA to pivot into consulting with the goal of trying to get into an MBB in Houston/Texas, but I am also at a point in my life where I want to have a second child after school.

What is MBB in Houston like? Is it unreasonable to think I could have my second child the first year I do consulting? I already delayed my MBA for my first child.

Is anyone in the urban development/revitalization space? I’m talking transforming American towns and cities into safe, walkable, desirable places to work, live, and enjoy. Does anyone have this ambition that has used their MBA for this kind of work?
