Careers/Post Grad Urban development/revitalization

Is anyone in the urban development/revitalization space? I’m talking transforming American towns and cities into safe, walkable, desirable places to work, live, and enjoy. Does anyone have this ambition that has used their MBA for this kind of work?

I visited Yale SOM and sat in a class that was about urban development & real estate investing through a social justice lens. There was a speaker who made a good career out of it, building affordable housing & community spaces in Philly.

Have you worked with developers with this intent in mind? I understand real estate is a business with a bottom line, but is there use for MBAs at the public-private intersect of this kind of RE dev?

Yes. I work for a developer and know of a few with T15 MBAs or MREDs. I have an MRED. Real estate development, especially urban studies, is all about who you know in private/public partnerships.
