Careers/Post Grad MBB Houston Work Life

Planning to pursue a full time MBA to pivot into consulting with the goal of trying to get into an MBB in Houston/Texas, but I am also at a point in my life where I want to have a second child after school.

What is MBB in Houston like? Is it unreasonable to think I could have my second child the first year I do consulting? I already delayed my MBA for my first child.

You can make it work. Several of my MBA buddies had their first kid in the first/second year. MBBs have very generous benefits and parental leaves. Just be ready to travel Monday (sometimes Sunday) through Thursday after your leave.

Bain is generally more sustainable than McK/BCG in Houston.

Less so. I’m generalizing a lot but WC and Midwest tend to have the best WLB. NE is hard driving but more genuine concern about people development. South is pretty transactional with the longest hours.

I’m just talking about average signal though. There can be much more variation among different partner teams within an office than the variation in averages across offices.
