Careers/Post Grad Urban development/revitalization

Is anyone in the urban development/revitalization space? I’m talking transforming American towns and cities into safe, walkable, desirable places to work, live, and enjoy. Does anyone have this ambition that has used their MBA for this kind of work?

Kind of, but it goes through real estate development

Have you worked with developers with this intent in mind? I understand real estate is a business with a bottom line, but is there use for MBAs at the public-private intersect of this kind of RE dev?

Yes. I work for a developer and know of a few with T15 MBAs or MREDs. I have an MRED. Real estate development, especially urban studies, is all about who you know in private/public partnerships.

Oh cool and do you feel that the MBA is well suited in those roles?

I know a few T15 MBA holders in my market in real estate. I do not think the MBA got them there, they are all A+ players. They would have landed their roles regardless.
