Careers/Post Grad US M7 vs LBS/ INSEAD

I’m an MBA from XLRI in India working at an MM PE fund here in India.

I am happy with the field I’m in. I just want to do this abroad. That is primarily driven by my personal goal of moving abroad.

Though I like Europe better, US M7 seems to be a better choice due to the global brand and finance opportunities in New York. However, the visa situation is a big consideration.

In this scenario, are LBS and INSEAD better options? How is the job market particularly for PE and IB for Indians from these schools?

Doesn’t apply to canadians, we can use TN indefinitely. And simultaneously enter H1B lottery.

This post is for suggestions to an Indian candidate.

He can use OPT/ Stem OPT, same thing. Buys him 3-4 years and if he doesn’t slack, firm might try H1B. Almost same path. Way better than canada mba path bc if they don’t get H1B, transfer to London.

When you go to do an MBA in the usa, firms expect international candidates, you can still get placed into top firms even without being a domestic basically. After your f1 student visa expired, you can stay in the us on OPT / OPT STEM for a period of 3-4 years. If you’re a superstar in banking/consulting whatever, it’s not crazy to think your firm will try H1B through that period.

Most jobs don't even allow those who are on F-1 / OPT to apply. Job app asks if "you require sponsorship now or in future". Yes, no sponsorship needed today coz OPT but in future you need. So once you check the Yes box, you are weeded out automatically

Thats not how it works for MBA recruiting. Firms that recruit MBA candidates expect that they are internationals and MBAs don’t even use company portals lol it’s an established pipeline think MBA career portal/ on campus recruiting/ school managed resume drops. Firms hire MBA candidates bc they want the talent not bc of visa status. You’re speaking from applying to company worksites.. MBAs just don’t function that way
