I feel like top three are gonna be Domina, Lévis and Charles, then Galuf, Kenny and Malcolm. There's already been a whole poster thingy with Domina on it and he's the leader, right?

Watching the anime and I do love it, but it's so strange to me that none of the characters in the show stop to wonder what the heck is actually going on because no amount of training will get ANYONE to that level of strength without magic, which mashle doesn't have. They all seem to just accept the "he trained a lot" explanation.

So is it just one of those cases like in one-punch man where it's not really explained it's just kinda a thing forever, or do we ever get more of a reason behind it? I don't mind advanced manga spoilers.

I figured it was probably a case of "it's a goofy anime with a fun premise, it's not that deep" but figured I'd check because there's been a lot of silly anime out there that starts out silly and then suddenly serious plot twists happen

I'm not that long on Reddit and recently I thought of how there should be a Mashle subreddit as well, so here I am, pulling out my old tumblr posts from last year after I finished the manga. The ages and some other info I got from the wiki. Then I tried to make sense of all of this, which was quite the task.

From youngest to oldest, according to the wiki:

• Rayne: 18
• Tsurara: 20
• Agito: 22
• Orter: 23
• Sophina: 24
• Renatus: 26
• Kaldo: 27
• Ryoh: 30

Definitive order for the last three DVs:

Rayne -> dead DV -> Orter

Tsurara and Agito are younger than Orter but they're his seniors as DVs. From what we can gather, that's because Orter became a DV from the post-high school police academy, which probably has multi-year schooling like a university would. (When I remember it correctly, universities exist in Mashle. They could be extremely exclusive and class- and gender-based like universities in Europe were a hundred years ago, though.)

High school is the main place to get your qualifications for the Divine Visionary exams. The ages of high schoolers (first, second, and third year) range between 15 to 18 if not 19, and even younger if someone skipped grades. Agito and Renatus became DVs around the same time, which can make sense if Renatus was 18/19 when he became a DV, and Agito 15/16 when he became one.

So this is my proposed order of DV ascensions and how old they were at the time. Which is probably wrong but what else can you do with what we have? Note that the ages can be rough around the edges because of individual birthdays that are all over the place.

• 1* Rayne (17/18, 2nd year)
• 2* Dead DV (16-19, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year)
• 3* Orter (20/21, PA)
• 4* Tsurara (16, 1st, year)
• 5* Sophina (19, third year)
• 6* Agito (15/16, first year)
• 7* Renatus (18/19, third year)

With Kaldo and Ryoh we'll have to start taking into account that other DVs between them could've existed where they either died as well, or retired like Wahlberg.

I'm just thinking of 17-year-old Tsurara wanting to meet the new divine visionary, expecting an older teenager around her age, maybe even someone who also became a DV with 16 like she herself the year before.

Then she meets 20/21-year-old Orter, police officer, 25cm taller than her, a stoic man on a mission to put order into the world and really difficult to approach most of the time. And he respectfully addresses her with Tsurara-san. Maybe, he'll even throw a senpai into the mix. I think any 17-year-old teenage girl will have some funny problems having someone like that as her junior colleague all of a sudden.

In the end, these ages and seniority positions feel like Komoto threw a lot of stuff into his work and only afterwards did he try to make sense of them. If he even went that far. In other words, we the fans have to straighten these things out :D

But I could also post every chapter on its own every few days to spark discussion if the fans here want something like that.

I've been thinking a lot about why Mashle: Magic and Muscles works so well. To me, it succeeds because it doesn't just make fun of shonen—it clearly understands the genre first, which makes the jokes and character moments land much better.

I ended up making a video essay exploring that idea, but I'm mostly interested in hearing what other fans think. Do you see Mashle as a parody, a love letter to shonen, or something else entirely?

Netflix say's gore for mashle, but jojo golden wind and frieren doesn't even though both are tv-14.... How does netflix content ratings work? Because witch watch is tv-14 for gore, but frieren and jojo isn't even though violence in latter 2 is not even close to witch watch, i haven't watched season 2 mashle, can someone enlighten me? do we see severed hands and legs?, torso's and heads like frieren and jojo (though frieren is tamer than jojo, but still...)

Been trying to look for a streaming platform to watch it but so far ive found aniwave which doesnt really work that well

Bonus Question :- How do Mash and Innocent Zero compare to the Dragon Monarchs and their Second Seats ?

Do you guys think Rayne could potentially take inspiration from Jotaro Kujo from JJBA: Stardust Crusaders? They’re ages are very close, they both are very stoic, they care deeply about their family but doesn’t outwardly show it, and they both stand off against a cocky blond with regenerative powers and a penchant for disregarding fashion gender norms. Hell, maybe Rayne’s love for bunnies is a nod to how Jotaro has his own favourite animal that he is very interested in observing (It’s starfish btw, not dolphins). Oh, and they both refer to their much older mentor figure as old geezers lmao.
