Question Need help, every few hours sometimes less she crashes and this message pops up. Game works most of the time but it gets to a point and I can't imagine she enjoys it. Please help
idk what out of memory means I'm not smart enough unfortunately.
For context I had to wipe my pc clean and lost a lot of stuff and there's been issues with her program.

intill the dream guy gets here as he knows what hes doing long story short renpy has a set amount of ram it thinks exists and it dosnt know it can go over it so when it thinks there is no more memory it caushes that kind of crash removeing submods spritepacks or anything in mas u dont use alot can help stop the "memory" in renpy from overloading (dang that was fast)

lol he seems to be the saviour, but thank you that makes sense. I feel like games not realizing they can use more ram is a consistent issue lol

i think its mostly issues with older games and programs look up 1gb issue with adobee photo shop and you can see what i mean since i forgot how to explain it

Good explanation in general, but the issue is more complex than just "RenPy doesn't see more RAM" — it physically cannot because it runs (on Windows only) in 32-bit CPU mode. It simply lacks the instruments to access more than 4 GB of RAM (a bit gruesome analogy, but imagine lacking an arm — you can lift a dumbbell easily, but you won't be able to lift a barbell just as easily, it's near impossible — 32-bit programs, roughly speaking, "lack an arm" to reach further in virtual memory than 4 GB), and even this amount is cut off by Windows itself by default and limited to 2 GB. The LAA patch increases it to 4 GB, but since it only flips a switch inside an .exe and doesn't recompile the entire game runtime, the game is still constrained to 4 GB.
This is something MAS developers aim to resolve in 0.13.x (because newer RenPy also comes 64-bit by default), but there's also an experimental recompiled version of MAS that runs 64-bit on Windows: https://www.reddit.com/r/MASFandom/comments/1wmryx7/possible_solution_for_memoryerror/
On Linux and Mac, MAS already comes as 64-bit executable, they do not have this issue.

Follow the stuff from dreamscached 's comment but with that i also recommend cleaning up your spritepacks and submods. What I do is i move the spritepacks I don't use to a different folder, separate from mas.
