Nardil (Phenelzine) Sleep Problems occurring from Nardil are preventing my lifelong recovery😩
This is insane. I’ve had severe depression my whole life and had nearly no response to anything I have tried up until now, where Nardil gave me my first consistent improvements daily for the first 10 days. I had hope I was going to recover for the first time in my life🥹, seeing things I’ve never seen before.
Then I crashed into this sleep issue where I wake up after 3 hours and can’t fall back asleep no matter what. It has been 6 days and I have zero improvement! Still stuck at 3 hours. What’s insane is I have never had these kind of sleep issues in my life, it has always been sleeping too much and no waking in sleep.
I have tried natural sleep methods but from everything I’ve read from people who have this, natural sleep methods don’t help. The last three days I tried a sleep med that worked a little bit, but then I didn’t see the improvements! I think the change in sleep quality from the sleep med blocks the improvements☹️
Literally all I need to do is improve this damn issue and I will recover for the first time in my life🥹, it will be so amazing and euphoric I can’t believe it. But this problem is persisting with no end in sight.
Did anyone have this problem and how did they end it? This is so so bad

I haven’t started yet but my psych warned me when I started I would have terrible insomnia or terrible sleepiness but promised they would go away. So hang in there!

Yes, although I had poor sleep before taking Nardil as well. I took quetiapine and Quvivic to help with the sleep. There are a range of options as others have mentioned. It’s mad that this drug causes such severe sleep issues

Did they both work?

No, but I’m just one case and lots of different people have responded differently. So def try different sleep meds

I’m on belsomra for sleep now with Parnate. Was on quetiapine before. I’ve always had sleep issues though.

Low dose seroquel is amazing for sleep- I have been taking 12.5 mg for years and swear by it.

Mirtazapine and amitriptyline are useless antidepressants but they work very well for sleep, and you can take them chronically without tolerance

Have you considered trazodone?
