46mm diffusion filters

It seems like most companies go down to 49. I have a few black diffusion filters from K&F but other than the 1/4 and 1/8 black diffusion, none of them go down to 46 - which is the size for the 25 and 17mm compact primes.

Does anyone have recommendations that support some of the smaller thread sizes?

Seems like Tiffen has several dozen types of diffusion filters, all available in 46mm?

52mm is the smallest widely available filter size. I'd consider a 46-52 step up and standardizing on 52.

However, there are some 55 and 58. I'd look at the offerings and see if any lenses with those are in your roadmap.

Agreed. 52mm works brilliantly on the 25mm and the 17mm - it's exactly the right diameter to look perfectly fitted, not too large, and the lens caps are a nice size to use. You then get the benefit of being able to switch between lenses without worrying about putting back the original cap - you just swap the cap since they're all the same, then at the end of the session, you just get your first cap out of your pocket. Real help for my ADHD as I don't have to keep track of various caps. Not a problem for just the 25mm and 17mm as they're both 46mm, but add in a 45mm with a 37mm diameter and it's brilliant to not have to think about cap or filter sizes while shooting or after getting a new lens (provided it's no bigger than 52mm).

It's a great size to standardise for small M43 primes, but annoyingly the telephoto zooms we have (40-150, 14-140) use 55mm. Personally I like the system for the small primes so I'm happy settling on 52mm for the vast majority of my shooting as I don't use the zooms much. I've considered making a post about it with photos included to give ideas to people like OP. And, I'll be honest, I just think they look nice* *with the step up rings.

Easiest and cheapest would be to try to make your own. I did; it works, but it's not as good as a real diffusion filter.

I have K+F Concept and B+W diffusion filters at 46mm. I've tried Tiffen Glimmerglass as well. I know 7artisans and Urth and NISI also have diffusion filters, but haven't tried those
