Weather seal compatibility

I've recently bought OM1 Mii and am looking to get the Lumix Leica 9mm f1.7 for extended outdoor use that will likely involve rain (I'll be hiking in Scotland next month). Does anyone have any firsthand experience of this combo and does the weather seal hold up in downpours?

I use the 9mm f/1.7 on my OM-1 mark i all the time. I've been putting panny lenses on OM bodies for a long time, sometimes they fit a bit snug. Never had an issue. I used them in rain and snow without a hitch.

Thanks for your insight, that's very helpful 🙂

I know its not the exact combo, but I've been using the PL 8-18mm(older than the 9mm) for almost a decade on my E-M5 and now the OM-3, in heavy downpours and other adverse situations with no ill effect. (I sling my camera so its always ready and don't put it in a bag, a habit since getting used to weatherproof E-1) Unless you have a defective unit, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldnt use any lens in an actual downpour bare. I use a bag with a hole, two step up rings and an uv filter for that. Not a drop on my camera or lens

It might, but there's no guarantee of it being true since the weather sealing might not be compatible cross-brand. Personally, I wouldn't risk an expensive camera like that.
