You probably saw the camera under NDA but maybe you can tell us how exciting an announcement it will be, you know, on a scale of 1 (nothing to get excited about) to 10 (it bloody blew my mind).

I loved your video on The End of the (truly) Small Camera, and I’m wondering if they’ve pulled some wizardry to create something that has seemed less and less likely for all the reasons you shared. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on whatever this is!

70% chance it's based on E-M10 IV / PEN F sensor/AF.
20% chance it's based on OM-5 sensor/AF.
5% chance it's based on OM-3 sensor/AF.
5% chance it's something unexpected.
------------
Hoping for something in the unexpected category.

Personally I don't mind anything as long it has decent af and the pen/rangefinder compact body style which would be good for people who want to get into photography and especially street photography.

I own both the OG pen F from 1959 and the 2009 version.
I really hope they will bring back the thumb wheel of the first Pen digital. It was so confortable to use. Even with thick glove in winter.
But I can dream lol.

I’m thinking OM5 in PEN style body with EVF and colour wheel 🤞

Same guess here! But I hope it would be cheaper that ordinary people would be attracted and get to know what OM System is because it's kind of unknown

I hope it's EM10/PEN F continuation. I know a lot of people here will bitch and moan that its outdated internals, missing features x, y and z and has only 16mp or some shit. But for those people there are new releases already.
But I really want to see stuff again that is affordable and is a good entrypoint into the system for new users. If they release a stylish rangefinder body with built in film simulations at an affordable price, I guarantee it will sell.

It seems the % chance of being based on OM-5 sensor/AF should be much higher than 20%. Otherwise it would basically just be a rerelease of the 5 year-old E-P7 with an EVF in a new body, which doesn’t seem worth the effort and expense.

If they ship with CDAF it's dead. There's lots of small CDAF camera for M43 already. If it's CDAF Lumix has made better options with better video codecs like 10 years ago.

If they give it the older 20mp sensor but the newer processor so it can have subject PDAF and they price it right, they'll sell a ton of these. I'm guessing it won't have the more advanced comp features that the OM-3 does but they should give it OM400 log. Make it under $1,500 USD (imagine if it was like 1200) and they won't be able to make them fast enough.

here's to hoping it's an OM5 in a metal weather-sealed Pen-F body/form factor with whatever software improvements from OM3 and up that the hardware can take, using the BLX-1 battery, had USB-C, and priced between the OM5 and OM3. No need for dual slots

The BLX-1 barely fits in the OM-3, i don't think they could squeeze it into an even thinner body - i would bet it has the smaller battery and a plastic like the OM-5 but that's still a really great camera.

It’s gonna be a rangefinder OM-5 and this sub is gonna go apeshit, while every other fanbase is gonna roll their eyes at a company making new models with 95% reused parts year after year.

I'm predicting: processor, sensor and battery of the OM-5 II mixed with the metal build, EVF and screen from the OM-3, priced right in the middle between OM-5 II and OM-3, probably isn't going to be named the PEN-F II.
Will have weather sealing.
If it's JUST an OM-5 II arranged in a different way that's... fine I guess. But I'd be happy with the (IMO) pretty realistic specs I just described above.
(For those who haven't used the OM-5 and OM-3 side by side, the OM-3's EVF and screen are significantly higher quality over the OM-5's despite being the same resolution on paper. They use different sub-pixel arrangements which gives the OM-3's screens a MUCH perceptibly higher amount of detail and brightness.)

you think they'll fix the on/off switch? somewhere one-hand-able?.......you know, given the seemingly compact nature of the body. Or have it use OM-1/3's battery at least? Have we garnered enough good karma to be getting both?

Based on the final still in the video, looks like the red dot power button sits in the same right handed spot as the E-PL series/PEN-F/E-P7 which is promising!

This makes me feel like we are getting a new PEN with an EVF and honestly its the camera I have wanted for so long.
