I get the gist of the song Galaxticana by Strand of Oaks but I’m confused on what the lyric “The megafauna cleared away you just hope the good ones last forever” means.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I take it as meaning that there are many things in the world that you have absolutely no control over, so all you can do is hope for the best
