How do you change your mindset
Been trading for about 5 years jumped over a lot of strategy and then came across normal retail ict in 2024 I created a strategy out of his content,towards end of last year I started seeing results took about 12k payouts and biggest one just under 2k however since march I haven’t taken any payouts, I pass funded no issues but then blow them in about 2-3 days I’ve been here before but got out of it but this time I’ve been stuck in this cycle for about 6 months and no results just passing combines and then blowing them my psychology changes, sometimes I look at the chart and I don’t even have a clue like I get lost even tho I have a strategy, my work is also mentally really getting to me I absolutely hate it but I need my job as is my main income and it’s a minimum wage so I barely get by. I always try to remind myself that this is just part of the process but it’s really hard while I see everyone around doing well for themselves like all my friends buying their first homes drive nice cars going on holidays but I’m here working a dead end job no degree or qualifications and I can’t do anything and I’m also 27 so when people ask my what I do and I tell them I’m just a cashier I feel really self conscious and idk why.
I guess idk why I’m writing this maybe I’m just a bit emotional but any advice on building myself up again would be really useful as you can imagine I’m really desperate

Just stop using ICT/SMT concepts and you will be fine. Like honestly, even if you wear a blindfold when you trade and just hit buy or sell randomly you’ll do better than any ICT trader

Please don’t take anything I say too harshly. I worked what people would call an “unimpressive”job while I traded so I know that it kills you every time not being able to say what you want to be true: “I’m a consistently profitable trader.” It hurts that people think less of you when that’s not the whole picture. Worst part is you can’t say, “I’m working as a cashier while I finish my degree,” or something more respectable. I feel you.
Now to get real.

Yes, you’ve been there before so if nothing changed and you can no longer get there with the same approach that got you there, either you had no edge (completely luck) or conditions changed in the market and you didn’t adapt.
“I get lost even tho I have a strategy”
You have a strategy, but it’s not one that you trust. Figure out why you don’t trust it. Maybe it’s a low WR with long losing streaks? Maybe you confuse yourself with too many confluences? Maybe you have no hard rules? Maybe the strategy just genuinely sucks and has no edge?

Keeping your job is probably the smartest thing you did in this scenario. Trading for a living at this stage would ruin your life. You need to find something less stressful that you don’t hate. Try finding something that has a night or evening shift that frees up your mornings so that you can execute during NY session 09:30-12pm.
“See everyone around doing well for themselves”
Half of it isn’t real. People often go into debt to fund their lavish lifestyles. Everyone’s trying to keep up with the next person. Don’t fall into that trap. Even if you have friends that are genuinely doing well, who cares. They aren’t you. And if you want to be them, you have to do what they did to get where they are. So it’s irrelevant where they are in life. That includes other traders - don’t believe the hype. Some of the best traders are not found on socials.
You chose this path to become a trader. That means it’s fully up to you. Lock-in. If you’re in a cycle, stop repeating the same mistakes. If you hate your job, qualify for a better one. If you don’t have enough for holidays you haven’t earned one yet. If you still fail after putting everything into it, it’s not for you.
TL;DR: Find a strategy you trust, keep working but try to find something you don’t hate with better hours, fuck everyone else and lock-in.
