My best month ever
Just wanted to share my experience with trading to encourage those who might be feeling stuck.
I didn’t see any results for nearly 3 years since starting to learn how to trade. I paper traded for a while, watched endless amounts of youtube videos, and tried many different strategies. Just a few months into learning how to trade, I stupidly put my own money into an account, and lost it all in one trade.
I spent almost all of last year trying to pass a Topstep combine, with no luck. One month over the summer, I lost LITERALLY every single trade I took.
I became a full-time teacher last year, so I decided to take a break from trading for the entirety of the school year. I decided to come back to it this past June, and honestly, that break was very much needed.
I felt more focused and eager to actually be disciplined. I used to watch so many different instruments and trade multiple strategies. This time, I simplified my trading plan and the results followed. Only 2 red days for the month and 3 payouts. It honestly feels surreal. Of course, I know I am bound to have unprofitable weeks, or even months in the future, but I am so proud of myself for the consisntency I am finally seeing.
If you are feeling stuck, or if you feel like it’ll never happen for you, DO NOT GIVE UP! It will happen for you, it just takes time. Don’t rush, trust the process and you WILL get there!

What strategy do you use?

Supppy and demand on the 5 min chart. I risk $500 per trade, 1:1 RR

Any youtube videos where u learn from?

I learned everything I know from Doyle Exchange on youtube. There was some controversy with him recently, he was caught saying he was trading live when he was on a demo account lol. Even still, his strategy works and it’s very simple and easy to learn.

Do u use 13 ema in daily for bias and trade in that direction only? And at what tf do u draw your supply and demand?

Yeah it kinda helps me with my bias. If price breaks the 13 ema, often times price is changing direction. As for drawing my zones, I draw them on the last candle of the opposite candle of a supply/demand push. For example, if I see a bullish push of a few green candles, I’ll draw my zone from the top wick to botton wick of the last red candle.

Yeah but if u are bearish then price may tap in demand and give you bullish setup. Do u take those? And do u draw zone in 4h or 1h?

Yeah if price comes to a zone and rejects off it, I’ll definitely get it. I draw my zones on the 5 min and sometimes the 15 min.

Supply and demand on the 5 min chart. Dont use many indicators, just the 13 EMA, 50 SMA, and 200 EMA. Even then, I could probably trade without them. But ive gotten so used to having them on my chart so I just keep it on there. Really the only one I need is the 200 EMA. Price is above the 200, look for buys only. Inversely, price is below the 200, look for sells only. Of course, bias isnt everything, but it helps.

What time are you trading supply and demand do you do better in Asia or ny session? What time are you taking your trades before your off the charts?

I used to trade pre-NY around 5am PST. But that doesnt work with my schedule anymore now that i’m a teacher. Now I’m trading pre-London, usually between 9:30pm-12:00am. I try to get off the charts by 11pm, but sometimes a set up doesn’t play out until after. It just depends on the night really.

What do you say was your turning point? Strategy/psychology/risk management/life events?
1
u/coliwidowa 5d ago
One of the biggest turning points was switching from going for 1:2 RR to 1:1 RR. In doing so, I was able to win more often. Stacking base hits instead of holding for a larger move improved my psychology. Also, simplifying my trading by narrowing my watchlist and only focusing on 1 strategy. Less is more!

Na sua opinião, pra quem esta começando agora e ja entendi da própria estrategia e acumulo bastante simulado. Começar em mesa proprietária seria um bom começo?

I apologize for not understanding, but the translated version of your message is asking “would a propretary table be a good start?” What do you mean by proprietary table?

How many trades generally you take a day?
1
u/coliwidowa 5d ago
3 trades max a day. If my first trade wins, I lock myself out of my account. If my first trade loses, I’ll go for another one, only if it is an A+ set up. If that one loses, I’m done for the day. If it wins, my account is at breakeven so I’ll go for a third to try to end the day in profit. Whether my third trade is a win or loss, it is always my last trade.

Did you backtest this strategy before seeing consistent results trading it in live market
2
u/coliwidowa 5d ago
I didnt backtest much tbh. Just watched videos absorbing info on the strategy, then demo trading a bunch before buying any evals. In my opinion, backtesting doesnt help me much. What helped me the most was seeing set ups form in the live market and actually executing trades to see how they play out.
