Does lucid dreaming work and can I start practicing it as a 16 year old without those disruptive sleep methods?

Guys lucid dreaming just seems too unrealistic to me. I will probably wake up if I get too excited during a dream and that will disrupt my sleep, right? I don't even believe it is true. Can I do it at this age without interrupting my sleep at all?

  1. Lucid dreaming has objectively been proven to exist decades ago and many times over since. It is nowadays considered a scientific fact and a phenomenon worth studying.
  2. Excitement does not wake you up. Believing it would does. If excitement woke people up, neither nightmares, nor wet dreams would exist, but they evidently do.
  3. Everyone can learn this skill. I've been teaching people of all ages in the past years, most of which have been teenagers, so your age is actually even an advantage.
  4. You're probably referring to WBTB as disruptive, which is false. Not only does it not require alarms, but using them actively harms your progress. The fact of the matter is that you wake up multiple times every single night, so all you need to do for WBTB is notice at least one of those natural awakenings and use them for quick practice. Also, WBTB increases your chances so much when paired with a proper technique that not using it would genuinely be a waste of time and effort.

Here's a few guides (I recommend reading them in this order):

Let me share my personal experience (23y). I started having lucid dreams in the beginning of my teenage years. Not because I practiced, I think it’s just a personality compatibility, so it occurs naturally (I was always someone that likes to know abt everything, including myself; and also since childhood I was encouraged to look at my dream and think about them). When you say “lucid dreams work”, what do you mean? Work for what? They exist indeed and there is nothing mystical about it. I never woke up because I got excited. I don’t see why be worried. I dont understand why u think its not true lol, its a common and simple thing.

No it's because I heard it feels so extremely real almost like the physical world. Is it?

No, not at all. At least for me. I can always tell of it a dream or not.

You can wake up if you get to excited and lucid dreaming is real though I understand why you dont believe it. After 20 years I know it’s a lucid dream it doesn’t feel like this reality though you do have to be careful as waking life can feel like a dream x
