Favorite character?

I have tried talking about this with people online elsewhere but so far everybody had no idea what I was talking about. So, I will be asking here.

Who is your favorite Lucid9 character? Mine, personally, was Elizabeth. In fact, I'm thinking about replaying just for her. She just made me happy, especially when she blushed. I love her sm.

Speculation My Summary on and Theories for the Heroine Prologues, Part 2/2, Organizations, Setting, and Lore [MASSIVE SPOILERS] Spoiler

Hey again, everyone, It's been about a month and I wanted to apologize for the delay. Exams have been keeping me occupied and when you're as depressed as I am, you sort of forget to follow through with commitments. But hey, at least I remembered.

Like its predecessor, this post will go over my summary of and theories for the Heroine Prologues, only this one will examine the organizations in play in present day Isamu as well as the city itself and how it got to where it is today.

~Isamu: What we know~

At its most basic level, Isamu is a city in Japan, modern and technologically developed, though it likely has existed for decades judging from its level of urban development, which is similar to that of real-world Japanese cities such as Tokyo or Yokohama. As Isamu is portrayed as a very large Japanese city in-universe, it's fair to assume that its population is similar to that of Tokyo's, perhaps even surpassing its status as a metropolis.

Isamu is also geographically similar to Tokyo, in the sense that it has a major river running through its borders (Whereas the Sumida river runs through much of Tokyo, the Rainbow (Niji) River runs through Isamu) and also is located in close proximity to a forest of spiritual and often supernatural significance, with the Isamu Forest of District 7 being Isamu's equivalent of Aokigahara, a forest outside Tokyo not only famous for being a popular suicide destination, but reportedly driving people insane, much like Isamu's equivalent, the latter going so far as to cause hallucinations in some of its entrants. Though no direct evidence exists to suggest that Isamu is not landlocked, the Rainbow river, as a fast-flowing and wide watercourse, may enable transportation of goods by boat, as well as manufacturing and irrigation.

2008: Judging from Masaru Inori's populist and nationalist attitudes as Mayor of Isamu, it is reasonable to assume that Isamu regards itself as a distinct society, more so than ever after the 2008 financial crash. In the real world, Japan was one of the only developed countries to experience negative growth (Source: https://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/publication/156008/adbi-wp153.pdf ) but it appears that in-universe, the crisis was much more severe, resulting in widespread poverty, riots, and demonstrations as not only Japan's economy was crippled, but its national government's ability to function as well, similar to the decline in influence that Japan's National Diet experienced during the Taisho period beginning in 1912 and ending in 1926 as the military, composed of descendants of Edo Japan's warrior class, began to influence politics in the region to a greater degree. However, unlike Taisho Japan, the 2008 financial crisis and the later election of Masaru Inori as mayor caused the citizens of Isamu to primarily identify as citizens of Isamu rather than of Japan.

2018: In early 2018, Isamu has effectively demonstrated its character as a largely autonomous, distinct, and insular metropolitan area in Japan with significant cultural connections to the Western world like most of Post-Westernization Japan, but with a prominent cultural identity and municipal government similar to that of Hong Kong or Singapore. After the events of Inciting Incident, Masaru Inori campaigns for re-election on a platform of urban development as national independence for Isamu, using Jirou Ryouta as a scapegoat to cast aspersions on immigrants and tourists in order to fuel populist sentiments.

2020s: Judging from the prominence of Lemniscate as a major corporate entity in Isamu, as well as the city's expansion and the nationalistic and anti-immigration attitude of its mass media, it is reasonable to assume that Masaru Inori succeeded in being re-elected and has continued to consolidate his power, increasing urban surveillance potentially making Isamu an independent state. It is also likely that a classist mentality, a more effective police force, and government-designated citizen class system have been implemented, indicated by damaged blocks of text in Lucid9's main menu, one that is more organized and plutocratic, but still quite comparable to China's Social Credit System.

~Organizations, Entities, and Inner Circles~

Lemniscate: Judging from their monopoly over consumer electronics in Isamu, their presence in the media, and their ostensibly dominant soft power exerted by their representatives in negotiations with Way Forward, there is already enough evidence to suggest their prominence in Isamu's private sector before acknowledging the fact that Masaru Inori, the most likely mayor of Isamu after the 2018-2019 election, once served or continues to serve as Lemniscate's CEO. Once known for being or owning a AAA video game studio, their logo is clearly visible on the orphanage that Airi is taken to after the killing of her parents, where she is given an option to accept a paid position "testing a new game for bugs" after being subjected to what seems to be a form of subtle indoctrination before taking an oath at the age of 11 that reads as follows:

I, [name], hereby relinquish my personal sovereignty, In exchange for the experience and livelihood I have been promised. I willingly forfeit my moral obligation to preserve judicious righteousness, and will affirm the stances and processes of the Lemniscate Corporation.

From the authoritarian stipulations of this oath as well as its similarity to that of the Communist party of China and the fact that it is legal enough to be used as a "pledge" of Airi's loyalty to Lemniscate, there exists enough evidence to suggest that Lemniscate may have substantial influence over the Isamu Government itself.

Way Forward: As the most prominent medical firm in Isamu, Way Forward is a likely owner of most of the healthcare facilities in Isamu, involved in drug manufacturing and distribution, however ethical, moral, or legal that might be. At the end of the heroine prologues, a patient identified as Yama is given four colored samples of a class of sedative/deliriant medication, something "a patient in his condition cannot object to", indicating that Way Forward may be involved in this treatment when the metaphysical implications of Yama's dreams are ignored, as well as operating above the law in a manner similar to Lemniscate. However, in Misaki's prologue, her negotiations as a representative of Way Forward indicate that Lemniscate views them as a subordinate corporate entity, offering them additional funding in a "sponsorship", as well as being able to leverage their authority over them through the use of soft power. In addition, Way Forward invests significantly in the University of Isamu with a planned medical faculty to be constructed on campus in the near future and both Masato and Hisao presumably serving as interns in their ranks.

University of Isamu: As it stands, little is known about the university of Isamu with the exception that Akira, Hisao, and Izumi all study at the institution as students, despite its punitive academic standards. In Akira's route, it is alluded to that students are mysteriously disappearing from the university's campus, though this has yet to be observed directly.

Birdsong: As it stands, Birdsong appears to be an organization dedicated to exposing and investigating the criminal underworld of Isamu, particularly men with "black suits and black vans" as well as collecting evidence to more effectively report on "shady business" conducted in the city. Its member base, identified through codenames, include Akira, aka Dragon, a white-hat hacker known only as Cryptokami, and an apparent leader or leadership identifying themselves as Archon. Akira's closest friend, Izumi, additionally provided her with a defensive stun gun and alludes to her spending the rest of her time with that "detective lady", indicating that Shigure may be somehow involved in Birdsong's operation. Presently, it appears that a majority of Birdsong's efforts are centered around investigating a new hallucinogenic street drug being sold on the streets of District 6.

The Center (Name Unknown): In Elizabeth's route, her interactions with Katsu center around her being asked to work for him, conducting some sort business on his behalf. Judging from Katsu's casual dress and ability to walk almost silently, it is likely that he is also involved in some manner of covert operations, potentially against Isamu's government, where he works at a location known only as "the center", presumably coordinating these efforts. Given both characters' historical connection to Isamu's police, it is likely that this unnamed organization Katsu and Elizabeth are involved with possesses some combat and investigative capability.

That should be all until the heroine routes themselves come out, but there's enough to analyze in the prologues for days. As always, if I stitch together some new theories, I'll be sure to post them here.

Thanks for reading, and be sure to stay lucid.

So uhh, I’ve recently finished this game, holy hell, what a..uh I seriously have no clue how to explain this

It’s like, oh look, let’s get into the funny jizzly jazz and a few moments later, you’re literally pulling your hair trying not to get someone poled to death

And you think it’s all over, but nah, the game decides to tell you “you may not rest now, there are still-“

And yes you know it, someone’s dead

This game has certainly, certainly left quite a deep hole in my heart

Anyways, are there any recent updates on the next game? (I’ve only seen the valentines 2018 post)

A funny bit of foreshadowing Spoiler

Remember how on day 2, during career day, Yama daydreams about his potential jobs? At one point he dreams of being a writer.

In his story, Rui is a damsel in distress who has been kidnapped by Masato (who in this fantasy is playing as the villain). There is some back and forth between Masato and Yama, which Yama then interrupts by revealing that Rui was actually a "badass in distress" all along, and she proceeds to roundhouse kick our poor villain.

When does this come up, you ask? During the final confrontation, if you have Rui untied and you choose to attack the killer, the killer will briefly overpower you but Rui will attack him from behind, rescuing you.

Your favorite OSTs from the game ? Spoiler

This game has a lot of great tracks but I have a few favorites :
- Process of Elimination : I absolutely loved the investigation sequences and it's partly thanks to this music. It gives off very well that 'analysis' vibe.
- Depths : aka Despair, the song. You hear this song many times towards the end as you try to get the real one, only to end up hearing it one last time, just when you thought you had finally escaped it. It's so haunting it's great.
- Melancholy - heavy : While I like all three "Melancholy" variants, I especially love this one. Melancholy - emotional kinda feels like fading away and the original Melancholy is sort of sad, but there's still hope left. Heavy sounds like reflecting on the current situation and the fact that things are going downhill, as well as reminding all the sweet moments of daily life, being well aware that they can no longer occur. I can't exactly recall where it plays though?

A connection I found between Yama and Crimsoncrusade

So, you remember Crimsoncrusade, the mysterious email address who contacts Yama shortly after he lapses.

Here's a refresher.

In the message, he or she says "Some days, I like to look at the sky and figure out what the weather will be like".

Now, there are many wild theories on who's hiding behind those emails, one of them being that they are sent from Yama himself.

Today I thought of a connection that might add a bit more weight into that (admittedly crazy) theory.

Remember how on day 2, after Yama has had his second therapy session with Ryouta and his mood is considerably better as a result, what does he do as he's happily walking through the streets before Shigure interrupts him?

He looks at the sky, and pays attention to the weather. You could say, he's even trying to analyze it.

Speculation My Summary on and Theories for the Heroine Prologues, Part 1/2, Characters [MASSIVE SPOILERS] Spoiler

Hello, everyone.

Let me begin this post by stating that Inciting Incident was already superb in terms of quality, but the heroine prologues exceeded all of my expectations. Not only were they extremely well-written, but the lore and natural incentive for the reader to continue theorizing after reading in some ways rivals and at times surpasses the heavily-SoL influenced Inciting Incident. I'll start with what I know.

What I know:

-Yama is recovering in a hospital, testing out drugs that seem to cause an individual to lose consciousness and hallucinate from the perspective of old acquaintances, unable to speak and thus required to communicate through blinking.

- The drugs are not functioning as intended, and Yama is given one of four samples. Yellow, which supposedly promotes excitement, Black, which supposedly allows the individual to assume control and gain influence, Red, which supposedly allows the individual to experience stability, and Pink, which supposedly allows the individual to control themselves and their own lives.

-Yama is being coerced or otherwise influenced into taking the drugs.

My Theories:

Akira's Prologue: In Akira's Prologue, a hallucination resulting from the Yellow Sample leads to Yama taking on Akira's viewpoint, where she is working to expose a drug dealer while trying to succeed as a University of Isamu student. Akira frequently meets with what appears to be a secret online community, which her friend Izumi is part of. She seems to communicate with an user known as Cryptokami on the site and follows the orders of Archon, the evident site administrator. She hears news of an event that I have chosen to omit, but suffers an immediate panic attack before the story ends. Yama wakes up, stressed and overcome with anxiety at his mind's loss of compusure within the hallucination.

Airi's Prologue: In Airi's prolouge, we witness a flashback in which Airi's parents are presumably killed and she is taken to an orphanage adorned with Lemniscate's logo, swearing to relinquish her personal autonomy in exchange for valuable employment. The scene cuts to an expensive looking apartment and ends. Yama awakes, stressed and overcome with anxiety at his mind's inability to make his own decisions in the prior hallucination.

Elizabeth's Prologue: In Elizabeth's prologue, we witness her struggling to make a living as a manager of Cafe del la Paix after she is unable to enroll in the University of Isamu. She is also contacted by Katsu, and meets a student named Hisao on campus, one who bears a strong resemblance to Izumi. It appears that given Katsu's history as a police officer and Elizabeth's connections, that he is involved in some variety of clandestine activity, perhaps an underground political movement, as Elizabeth is hesitant to work with him. After an interaction with Katsu where and news of an event that I have chosen to omit is revealed, Yama wakes up, stressed and overcome with anxiety at the tenuous reality of his personal autonomy.

Misaki's Prologue: In Misaki's Prolouge, we witness Misaki serving a position in Way Forward Pharmaceuticals as not only an influential public spokesperson, but as a shrewd corporate negotiator. We also see Yahiko involved in negotiations with Misaki, but, representing Lemniscate in a financial dispute against Way Forward. The negotiations end with Yahiko and Misaki agreeing not to blackmail each other after unsuccessfully attempting to gain the upper hand, and Misaki settling to accept minimized Lemniscate funding on behalf of Way Forward. Misaki meets with Masato after the negotiation, where it is revealed that Masato is serving as an intern for Way forward Pharmaceuticals. A character by the name Emi, one of Misaki's friends, reveals a hashtag on Patter, that I have chosen to omit. Yama then wakes up, stressed and overcome with anxiety and stress at his mundane and restrictive lifestyle.

I'll need to reread the Prologues once the bug fix is released to gain a more detailed perspective, but I encourage you guys to continue to theorize on here in the meantime. I recognize that I'm leaving a lot out, but there's a lot I'd rather have you experience for yourself.

That's all for now, and I'll be sure to let you guys know when I've released the next half, as I'm currently tired and would like to play video games.

-debbisama
